    Gnarley!

How do you suppose the pot had enough force to push down through the oven...?

Shouldn’t it just blow the lid off? Unless the bottom blew and the whole thing went up and bounced straight back down.

The engineer/scientist in me is curious.

I really hope that wasn’t your house!

    Not my house, nope.
Simple physics, really. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, etc. In order to launch that lid hard enough to embed it in the ceiling AFTER hitting (and ruining) the oven hood, there had to have been a fair amount of force exerted in the opposite direction (downward) against the pot itself. Think about the kick you get when you fire a 30-06. That's just from accelerating a 1/2 oz bullet (granted, at a considerably higher speed, but I'm just using a loose example)

The cook surface on an oven really is just two sheets of really thin sheet metal with some ridges stamped in for rigidity (or a layer of sheet metal and a layer of safety glass, if it's a smooth top), so I wouldn't think it would take much concussive force to deform them.

Sure I get the physics of it.

I guess the oven top must not be as solid as I assumed.

Crazy. I don’t think I would have wanted to around when that thing blew.

Yeah, the sheet metal on them is pretty thin.

You should try out Mexene Chili Powder if you've never had it. It's a blue and gold logo. It's my favorite!

I'm actually a big fan of the Laxmi chili powder because it kicks like a mule (very spicy) but the GF isn't crazy about spicy food so we were using the weak-ass McCormick stuff instead.

Bland cause I have a seven and four year old.

But I add jalapeños and hot sauce to my bowl.

Made haluski (cabbage, onions, egg noodles) this week. Added grilled kielbasa after it was done. Cheap and easy.
