^ This. Also, I highly suggest doing DFCO testing with and without AC or Defrost on. I have noticed a significant difference with defrost on (much worse).

I notice some of the issues posted when on the throttle. I would be a nice-to-have if those were gone, but I'm 95% okay there. The big issue for me is the lack of engine braking when down shifting. Torque shows the injectors are off, but the throttle is sitting at 17% or so. I am guessing this is interpreting either the electronic throttle plate for the port system or the intake valve overlap? IDK.

But, if OVtune can get this lack of engine braking to go away, esp in the sub-2,500rpm region, I will start saving my pennies.

Also, folks above say that a lot of this info is in the slushbox threads. I've tried reading them and it is mainly a technical discussion about the programming side. I'd like to see a general discussion / feature list for the user side. Finally, it hasn't been mentioned by OVtune that I could find, but what is the effect on MPGs over time, once folks get done playing with the throttle right after the tune?

Yeah, I know that the Taco tuning is really new. These are just my thoughts.

I am just looking for 300hp. How is the Camry tune on the Tacoma?

The very first post in that link shows the HP / TQ curves. The major gains are in low and mid range RPMs, not peak. This is more of a driveability tune than a race tune.

There's a Dyno chat showing a 30 hp gain in that thread...

Lots of people in that thread have of a number of miles on this tune now. I've got over 1000 on mine at this time.

No one is saying it won't affect emissions... In fact the opposite. It will definitely affect emissions.

Yes, the initial dyno truck was an Automatic. Many more autos than manuals.
First manual on the dyno was yesterday......

Yes. . . but that was the info that YOU asked for. A dyno graph is going to be done in 4th gear regardless of GB or rear end ratio. And, we are talking about relative differences (pre- versus post-mod), not how the slushbox tune compares to the MT tune.

Can you talk about the MPGs that you are seeing this far in?

    Thanks!

I assume you drive an electric vehicle and get all your power from solar? If so, it's great you are doing your part.

If you want to have an environmental discussion about pollution you should start a thread about it.

We test drove a TDi sportwagen before buying our Forester XT. I still wish that we bought the TDi and would not have sold it back. Our Forester for whatever reason, on the OEM tune, will sometimes leave a cloud of exhaust when accelerating from a stop. It is almost thick enough to be characterized as rolling coal.

The fact is that most pollution these days comes from building the vehicle versus driving it. The other fact is that we don't put 20,000mi+ year in and year out. Our commutes are short. So, we pollute a whole lot less than you're assuming.

Beyond that, your arguments are not going to persuade ANYONE in this thread. So, just continue to yell into the void.

Have you ever been to Beijing? I have, several times.

Have you seen the pieces of shit that are on the road there? I have and there are alot of old cars there that should not be on the road.

Ever seen the pollution the factories that make 90% of the shit in your home put out? Probably not, but I have.

Are you interested in buying this tune or are you just here to provide negative commentary? I have the tune and absolutely love it. The truck drives better than stock and I can't wait to load this new file.

A few hundred trucks running this tune are not going to cause global doom and the destruction of mankind as we know it. The trees in this thread do not need hugs.

i get your question. the answer i think is that it turns your jumpy weird motor into a normal one. normal throttle response and normal power delivery... as in normally linear like you get from any other road going motor.

and you get a bunch more torque too!

Many report MPG increases. The tune does not require cat deletes. The tune has not been throwing codes (well, one probably unrelated truck). The tune does not alter any emissions fault checking. The tune does not target lean burn (where NOX is created). <--- Maybe @OVTune can confirm my understanding to these claims?

Quite honestly, I would say that the amount of effect this tune has on emissions is inconsequential compared to the variance in emissions due to driving habits. Some lead foots on this forum running 35"+ tires regularly get <15mpg. THAT is going to pump more CO2 in to the air than this tune.

I wish I had gotten 15mpg on my 35's before the tune. I am now getting 17.7 on the highway and 15.5-16 around town. Can't wait until I get the 4.88's on with the tune.

salty because you're jumping in and gettin preachy about stuff we all know inside and out. most are car guys here, obviously. the original thread is a development history for you to see and many of us here were involved there. if you want to go over these things like we've never heard it or considered it, then you're in the wrong place.

if you simply are asking the questions and looking to dialog, then welcome. many of us are over 1,000 miles on the various versions of this tune since the beginning. OVTune can share specs and we can share experience.

3 inches, Ray10s, 34s, OVTuning, and driver mod for now.
I hate to assume things, but I would say Mat makes more than 250k a year and works for himself. He's doing just fine with out working for a corp.
