Recently heard a noise from the engine compartment. 30 minutes later battery was drained. replaced the battery, had the alternator checked, checked the belt, all good.....however the noise is still there.

when idle, small whining / hum noise. turned tires, noise doesn't change. start all accessories (KC lights, lights, radio W/ Amp, A/C), noise does not change.

on the road when accelerating, the noise becomes a high pitched sound.

RPM's are sitting at 500 when idle.

    any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Describe thee connection to "the noise", your tires, and your battery going dead.

What kind of high pitch sound? Like a belt squealing?

-Most likely an idler bearing. when the truck is running and idle, there is a small humming noise and the truck has a low idle. normal RPM is at 1000, however since this issue started it sits around 500.

-Still in neutral, turn on all accessories (lights, flood lights, stereo & amp, A/C) no noticeable changes in engine idle.

-While still parked, turned the wheels left and right, no noise change. P/S pump checks out fine and is filled.

-When driving, going from first to second gear, there is a high pitch whining noise. Noise is present even when down shifting. Sounds like a baby turbo without the woosh.

Overall last night while driving I started noticing that the power was draining, lights going dim, wiper blades going slow. made it to the auto store and replaced my optima red top. this morning I pulled the alternator, had it bench tested and checked out fine. reinstalled and noticed the same noises.
