The upside is that it takes out the back and forth drift when going down the highway. I was constantly making small corrections. That goes away!!! So yeah, it is sensitive!!! Best low buck mod you can do to these trucks, once they have a few miles on them!!!

What the fuck... and here I've been searching for months for the right damn tranny. Because I had an 04 and everyone just told me a mechanical wouldn't work because of the electrical throttle system. And literally my throtttle looks just like yours. Wow, my mind is blown

I don't think your tranny will make a difference. Unless you're going from an auto to a manual. Then yes...you need the right ecu

So a 2000 4Runner auto tranny will work in my 04 Prerunner auto? My buddy is selling me a 4runner minus the 3.4 for 600 bucks ...I'm hoping that gets me most of my parts

I think the 4Runner got the flyby wire setup in 01. But...I'm not 100% on 4runner stuff. So need to do more research

So if my throttle looks like yours and has the cable, and if the 4Runner also has he cable then I theoretically should be okay right ?

The entire drive train(minus the drive shaft). Front suspension. Some of the interior.

You'll just have to make a little switch panel to control the actuators because you won't have the circuity built in. Although @BartMaster1234 probably has a better idea of what's involved.

Unless you had your whole drivetrain swapped I'm pretty sure you have an electronic throttle, someone correct me if I'm wrong. You can't use any of the mechanical throttle A340F's it would have to be one that's electronically controlled.

A cheaper way to make your A340E an A340F is by swapping the output shaft. This is a very very involved job and requires tearing down a majority of the transmission.

It'll be easier to use an electronically actuated front diff since electrical wiring is much more simpler than working with VSV's and the such. My 4Runner diff came with a vacuum actuator so I elected to go for the manual hub tour for simplicity's sake.

People have used vacuum ADD before so it's not impossible.

My truck has a cable on the throttle and I can turn the plastic it's connected too to rev the engine. And it's a 2004 Does the electric one have a cable ? And the donor forerunner I believe has auto hubs, would that mean its front diff is electronically actuated ? Think the answer is yes but I'm heading up a new project still learning a ton

The front diffs can be electronically or vacuum actuated. I found that my 97 4Runner diff was vacuum actuated. I believe most Tacoma front diffs are electronically actuated but don't quote me on that. Take a look at @Speedytech7's post on how to tell if you have an electronic throttle or not. Since you have a 2004 I'm pretty sure you do but I could be wrong.

Your 4Runner might have a drive by wire transmission. I'm not sure what year of the 3rd gen that they switched from mechanical but do your research on it. The 4cyl and 6cyl bellhousings are different so you will need to swap them if you use one from a different engine.
