I think at this point I would have to see a legit diagram of what ou are talking about. Is this what you were thinking could be an LT substitute back in the LT BS thread where you remove the rear shackle without relocating the front shackle as well?

 

Yes, that's the new Archive hanger I'm talking about. I do believe that it could be honestly called LT if it was moved back and you stretched an SUA spring back to match.
The DMZ shackle hanger is just as dependent on the springs it attaches to so that it can be "long travel."
But no this will not be capable of as much as DMZ hanger, can't fit that long of a shackle under the frame rail reasonably

 

Is there an exact spring under leaf that this was designed to work with? I get the impression if it were that simple to just adjust the rear shackle hanger only that LT kits would likely do this. From the ones I have seen, they have to move both the front and rear shackle locations out wider than stock to accommodate the bigger LT sua springs.

 

Did you know that the DMZ springs are almost the same length as stock from front hanger to center pin, but longer at back?
I think the biggest reason he makes front hangers was to move springs towards tires so the shackle could swing next to frame rail instead of under.

I'm making a kit for the masses, who want increased performance and quality, without all the fab work and big $$$ install bill.

But its not just DMZ...Giant relocates both, as well as camburg. Those are the current Tacoma LT kits I am familiar with, but Im sure there are others out there as well. Giant's is completely bolt on to the stock shackle hanger locations and DMZ is in the process of making a bolt on version of his kit. I think if they could just extend the hanger without enlarging the geo then they would have done it. Either way I should be able to speak more intelligently in a few months when I get my kit on the rear in regards to this topic.

 

True, because they all have shackle moved out to swing next to frame rail like the full size trucks come stock. Mine is staying under to work with stock front hanger/perch for all the spring over overland rigs, trail rigs and mid travel SUA folks, and because not everyone needs 16"+ travel.
Please share your build experience here, and if you have springs already measure them up and let us know what you got.

I'm totally fine calling it mid travel, just got influenced by the many calling TC front long arms "long travel"

Yes they will. I had to crank my icons up to full 3" just somewhat make the lift look normal. When I'm fully loaded with rtt and camping gear it sits level. Unloaded it's close to 1/2" higher in the rear after the springs broke in and suspension settled. I'm running normal dakars and this flip on my 06 dcsb.

 

Did the leaf pack invert? If so it's not the shackles fault, you need better bump stops.

 

My front's are maxed out at 3". I wouldn't mind more lift in the rear, but it already sits raked as is. When it's loaded down with the RTT, camping crap, Hi-lift, full spare, fire wood etc. it sits nice and level. Plus, I don't think my rear shocks have the extended length that they recommend for the shackle.

 

@ARCHIVE have my new deaver U402 expedition stage III on the way. I have the mounts back right now with the stock springs and wheeler single AD. Do you know a good starting place for the U402s? running 10" shocks and timbren bumps. Will get the shock relocate kit later this year I hope.

 

@Glenn_R Good choice on Deaver. For the shackle flip, I would start with the rearmost position which should put shackle angle about 30 degrees from vertical. It sounds like that's where the brackets are currently.

Ok, that's the foremost position, you can try it but shackle angle would be closer to 45deg. I'd recommend moving them rearward, using all 4 factory holes.
