Have a buddy who just installed, lift set at 2.5" (with add-a-leaf). Rode great but his tire/wheel combo (slightly under 33") had significant rubbing so they had to body chop and crank the lift up to full 3.5". Front was higher than rear, so they added a small block to the rear. Now it rides like crap.
Any suggestions? I told him he needs a new leaf pack, but which? Not really used for towing, some occasional hauling but not much. Looking to gain that nice ride back with level stance.

Personally I would lower that lift as much as possible (2.5 is nice). Get the block out of there, put some Dakar leafs or quality add-a-leafs and lower the front. Why did they need to jack it up? A CMC and wheel spacers should fit any 33 inch tire. Where was it rubbing?

What needs to be done is lower the ride height back to about 2.5" and just clearance whatever rubs. Hard to believe that a cmc was done and he still rubs with a tire that small.

He can't lower to 2.5" or the tires rub... He is dead set on using this wheel/tire combo. I'll get the specs on them for better detail.

Lift height doesn't matter in the end (unless your only talking static clearances), what is best is too stuff your tire and see where it's rubbing and trim as necessary. A 3.5 inch lift is gonna rub as much as a 2.5 inch lift at full stuff and that is what matters off-road. That being said I did the cmc and cut a shitload of fender and plastic and I still rub on the passenger firewall area at near full stuff since my passenger tire in the front sits about an inch further back (than the driver side), need to take it to the alignment shop again. I am only running a 255 85 16 fwiw.

Also if he wants leaf packs, go ome dakars.

OP. I dont have any rubbing with my 285/70/17 and my Kings set at 2.5. More than likely is the wheel specs and/or alignment causing the rubbing

OME Dakar leads. Unload the coilovers. Buy new wheels. Back to a great ride.

    This^

Crank them back down, it's either back spacing or poor alignment specs.

Looks like he has a 10" wheel with -19 offset, and 295/55/20 tires. Is this going to even be possible with 2.5" of lift? I believe he has them cranked to 3.1"-ish with the AAL and 1" blocks in back, and the fronts still have issues clearing the fender liners (flaps removed) during full turn when reversing and stuffing the tires.

what exactly is he rubbing. cause with that tire rim setup your going to have a massive positive scrub radius and honestly wouldn't be surprised if he has to chop most of the trim off plus beat the shit out of that pinch weld. the amount of lift doesn't help you fit wider tires. find out where its rubbing and work from there if he's dead set on keeping the wheels.

It hasn't been tested offroad, but just driving in town, it rubs the front bottom outer edge of the wheel well when reversing at full lock. Doesn't just rub the liner, it actually rubs the spot where the liner clips to the fender. Needs about a half inch of more clearance. It's slight, and liveable, but under any stuffing it would rub much more. Unfortunately he is not on forums, and didn't properly research. Fortunately it'll probably never see dirt. He wanted that 'deep lip' look in the wheels. Ugh what a waste of an Icon kit. I tried.

Fair enough! This is before the rear blocks and +0.5" crank up in front.

OP sorry for the thread de-railment but do you know what kind of rock sliders he has? They look like they tuck nice to the body.

I meant that he won't really use it offroad, its for looks... Could have lifted it and achieved his purpose with much cheaper hardware.

    Scratches, dents, lots of squeaks.
X2 for alignment. I bought the 3 yr unlimited alimnets cause I wheel a lot. And depending on who aligned it, sometimes it rubs sometimes it doesn't. Likely need tires as forward as possible with positive camber
