My guess is piss poor powder coating at the factory. Reason being is that I have sliders and armor on the truck that was powder coated months prior to me getting the roof-rack and the finish on the armor has no signs of this issue. You can see the bubbling under the powder coat pealing up. Bad prep process prior to the powder coating I'm guessing...

I noticed in the mounting channel there's no real coat, just flecks of overspray... hope mine doesn't get like that..

Are you the only person this is happening to and what is the word on the followup from front runner? Where do you live? I live by the beach and my shit was never rusted like that.

Don't stress, I'm gonna guess if you take care of it will be fine and front runner would probably cover those kind of defects. I had mine for a couple years and had no issues.

Bro...I live a few miles from the beach, but It rains daily here and the fact that I keep my truck washed weekly as well, so it's not sea salt. No other part of my truck has this going on...just the rack. I haven't gotten word from Frontrunner yet, but I'll post up when I get a response...

OK...this is outstanding. Frontrunner emailed me back within an hour and said they would replace all the defective parts! Much respect for a great company that stands behind its product! Parts inbound......

Yeah...I'm stoked as well. I'm not sure what grade bolts that ship with the racks/kits, but rust has been an issue on almost every bolt in the kit. I need to replace with grade 8 stainless parts when I rebuild the rails...

Nice! Is that the 100xr? How do you feel it will hold up with all the weight on top?

Yes it is! I think it will hold up just fine. I know some guys have concerns about it but You see so many guys running this same setup that I just don't really worry about it.

Makes me that more much willing to spend the extra money on this company when I'm ready to get a new rack.

I'm debating on whether to get the front runner or prinsu design roof rack. Both of them look great and they both have great modification and add on support, but prinsu is a good bit cheaper than compared to front runner.

Anyone know if just the base rack assembly without an actual platform - just the load bars would support a rtt? I'm guessing it should...
