Been struggling with maybe selling my 04 ... I just want a 4x4 so bad. Have been contemplating the swap, but it's hard to find the right info and parts. I bought her for $6000 and would basically want the same truck 02-04 just the 4wd version. It's just holding me back from spending a huge amount of money on suspension and trips and routes a 2wd can't honestly go. And don't get me started on snow. I also have a huge attachment to my truck that also holds me back. I might even want to buy an already built truck, what's your guys opinions? How much could I get out of my Red mama. ? 2004 138k 3.4 Prerunner IMG_2297.jpgIMG_2120.jpg

You could easily sell that for around 10k does it have upgrades? (That you're going to sell with it)

Camburg UCAs, Icon ET coils, Flowmaster 40, All Pro bumper, etc. just minor stuff, I wouldn't part ways with the rack and tent though. You're prob in the same boat as me lol. Except your doing the swap right ?
Edit: would it be smarter to sell it with all the upgrades ?

    Do the 4x4 swap!
Give yourself a year to gather the parts and slowly save for the labor of the swap. Only really challenging part is installing the transmission. The front diff is tricky because it's heavy but doable with two people I'm sure.

Well, depends. I found my truck with 119k with some expensive modifications and I managed to get it at a decent price. You could take off all the goodies and go back to stock? Then you can swap it all over to the new truck you buy. It all depends though, you could end up finding a somewhat built 4x4 too Just gotta keep looking around.
However, seems like you're attached to your truck as well. It's a good looking truck.
I'm converting mine cause I've invested a lot into this truck and am too lazy to shop and go through the motions of selling and buying another vehicle :)
I'm only about 1100 into the swap right now, I plan to re gear which will take some money, but realistically. If you take the time to find the parts you can get a good deal. You can get it all done for 2k(with shop labor)

That's a lot cheaper than selling and buying in my opinion. And fun

Hell. People buy bumpers for 2k.

It was 102 last Sunday when I was wrenching. Doesn't feel like Aug 102. Air is super dry.

I’m in the process with Long Beach so I have the physical agility exam tomorrow, then need to start getting all my paperwork together for the background part that follows.
