This is the first time I bought a new vehicle after 9 years so I need to confirm this. The dealers offer the free service every 5000 miles but the oil changed is every 10.000 miles. Is that true your car/truck needs oil changed every 10 not 5 thousand miles?
I always got my car oil changed every 5000 miles before.
    Thanks in advance.

You can pay them to change it at 5,000 miles or get it done someplace else. I'm going for my last free oil change 11/7 and I only have 6978 miles on my truck. I get mine changed once a year because I don't rack up allot of miles.

No such thing as a free oil change....!! You paid for it up front..!!

But with the Synthetic oils, we can go 10,000 miles or 12 months.... Good Oil this stuff is..!!

yes. its called toyota care, you get 2 years/ 25,000 miles of scheduled service included. The new tacoma's run pure synthetic and only need an oil change ever 10,000 miles. Chemistry has greatly improved oil quality over the years so a 5k cycle is no more but if you want peace of mind they will change it for cost or use one of your two oil changed. the 5,000 mile services are mostly inspections and a tire rotation.

If you use one of your 2 oil changes at 5k, be careful they don't bump you to the 10k service. I was told the only way they would do the oil at 5k under the care plan, was if I was willing to forfeit the 5k service. I said nope and paid for it.

    Eh, sorta true, sorta not and I'm not saying you're wrong, saying they're wrong. You can get a oil change done at 5k if you drive in adverse conditions alot such as;
Driving while towing, using a car-top carrier, or heavy vehicle loading

Replace Engine Oil And Oil Filter

Lubricate Propeller Shaft (4WD/AWD, If Applicable)

Torque Propeller Shaft Bolt (4WD/AWD, If Applicable)

Torque Nuts And Bolts On Chassis And Body

Repeated trips of less than five miles in temperatures below 32 F/ 0 C

Replace Engine Oil And Oil Filter

Extensive idling and or low speed driving for a long distance

Replace Engine Oil And Oil Filter

I'm going to have mine done at that mileage, loopholes bitches!

I added the optional 5k first oil change on my first service that I would have to pay when they were done. I also mentioned rattling in the overhead storage unit for them to address. I was also the second person for service in line at the dealership that morning. I got my truck an hour before they closed that evening and they never bothered looking into the rattling. Needless to see, they were nice enough to not charge me for the oil change.

I didn’t know that Toyota would use synthetic oild for free oil changing, it makes sense the synthetic oild would last 10000 miles. But just dropped off my friend’s camry for 5.000 mile service and they said there’s no oil changed this time have to wait for another 5.000 miles and I am sure they don’t use synthetic on your camry or Corolla.

All Toyota 0W20 is synthetic and rated for 10k and all Toyota models use 0W20 as of 2015 except the Yaris(I believe)

Wife's 2012 Sequoia was every 10,000 miles, thats what the owners manual stated. It also took the 0w-20 synthetic oil which isn't cheap.

If you can catch the auto parts stores when they occasionally run their sales they will sell Mobil 1 syn for $4.99 per quart which the only other way to get it on the cheap is the likes of Amazon which shipping generally offsets a bit.

It is as cheap as anything else now a days. You can get 6 quarts of Mobil 1 at Costco every few months for $27 or a 5 quart jug at wally world for like $23. On top of that Mobil 1 runs a promotion frequently that gives you a $12 rebate per 5 quarts.

Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 qt.

$22.88 a gallon all day everyday at Walmart. I buy two and measure the 1.2 quart out of the second.

I change mine every 5k but we also tow our travel trailer short distances with the truck.
