URD Throttle Body Adapter, 70 -> 76mm for 3.5L V6

Any 3rd Gen owners/members with firsthand experience of this product?

From the URD website: "This CNC billet machined adapter plate will allow you to install a larger throttle valve on your 2016 and later Tacoma with the 3.5L V6 engine.

It fits the 2016 and later Tacoma with the 3.5L V6 engine and allows you to move from the stock 70mm throttle and upgrade it to the 76mm throttle valve found on the later dual VVTi engines found in the 2005+ 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 and 2007+ 3UR-FE 5.7L V8.
It is a simple bolt on and plugin installation. All you need to do is put a thin layer of RTV silicone on the back side of the new throttle valve and adapt it to your existing intake system."

 

What's the point without a tune?

But does it tune for a larger throttle body?

 

Given that they adjust pretty much all of the mapping I’m sure they could.

 

I'm sure they could too.

 

So if it can be done, I don’t really see the point of your original statement.

 

I'm wondering what the point of upgrading the throttle body is when you can't currently buy a tune for it. That's all I'm saying. Mostly just trying to make people aware (OP?) that "upgrading" to a larger throttle body is going to do them more harm than good without a proper tune.

 

Same as changing the muffler I see where you’re coming from though. It would be interesting to hear from someone that already has the adapter.

 

unless I’m missing the sarcasm. Umm not at all. Not even remotely. Muffler is post emissions. Throttle body is metered air.

 

@OVTune he's overloaded and has said don't expect replies, he's too far behind.

because in the early days of the development of the 2GR-FKS tune he mentioned what sounded like a part maybe fitting this description. you can probably find mention of it somewhere in the first hundred pages of the Alpha tune thread. if you want to contact him about anything he said to email directly... more info on his site.

 

OVTune says custom tunes will soon be available. Seems like these small mods could squeeze some noticeable power out of the engine.
