You obviously have the equipment to manufacture products out of plastic. Couldn't you manufacture your own tail light housing in whatever light orientation you wanted and simply cover with a stock clear lens (painted how you like it)?
I'm sure there is some reason you haven't done this yet though.

Yes I could. But if I went that route it would be a complete replacement lens(not a cover).
. But for the tooling and production costs to get it started would have to be worth it for the demand. This is a prototype, maybe if it turns out well I just might...

Yeah I wasn't even thinking making it production, mostly just thinking for your BTTF tail and the one or few your were making, but I see it would make more sense at that point.

Why do you need them on a black truck? They are going on a magnetic gray truck.

Blasted the inside. This has been a real learning experience.. not sure what I think of them. I wanted the amber section to be a little brighter.
maybe on the final ones i'll do a thinner coat.
Light definitely passes through, and they are "frosted" like the OG 80's ones.
Had a body shop clear coat them.. not fond of the job. But whatever it was free and this is for science.

I agree. I think the amber should be more yellow. You almost can't tell a difference in the picture between the red and amber.

Ya this has been a little tricky to balance the color hue, opacity, and design.
I've got the transparency with the bead blast, now to just get the the colors down..

Seeing how this looks now, I'd be more interested in having full transparency for the red and amber, but "frosted"/blasted for the white/clear.
This would also permit more visibility to the other modifications underneath.
My rationale is that since the position of the red/amber is already switched, allow some additional deviation from the original style.

Yeah... I'll get these. Just need some more tweaking. I'm always up for challenges.

okay.... so after racking my brain around this I ordered a factory light cover to study it in depth.
The hardest part to replicate is going to be the diffused waffle pattern on the inside of the lens. sand blasting is close, but to pull off a true retro..it's gotta be perfect.
I am making a few calls and going to try and have a complete lens made. With the color and pattern molded in, identical to the OG... we'll see how it goes

So does that mean amber-top, red-bottom? (for your 3rd Gen ones, of course)

If i'm going to go through the trouble of having the lens custom made..yes it's going to be identical to the T
