Toyota hit with $16M fine over recalls in US

Merged up three threads here- All about Toyota and getting fined.

And as a quick point:
The report button is not just got offensive posts and spam/trolling....Instead of bumping a repost thread by posting "You %*#&^$% THIS IS A REPOST"...Just report it and a mod and move/delete as necessary....MUCH easier.

 

Wanna bet? Toyota will pay the fine out of petty cash and move on. Sales are already on the rise.

^A lot of us care. Hang in there, I know how you feel. I've been with the same company for the last 9 years but I've been without a job in the past. It happens and it sucks. Of course, considering I'm in the health insurance industry, Obama is doing his best to make sure I'm unemployed again.

But Cmack is right, it WILL get better.

An interesting bit of info....

I was talking to someone over the weekend, and they said they saw something on an investigative news show on cable. They tracted and plotted the location of all of the reported insidents of the sudden acceleration. The show pointed out the fact that most of the insidents happened near high tension power lines. I don.t know what the persentage is exactly, but it was high, like almost 100%. And from my understanding, the ones plotted were only the cases that happened befor the sudden acceleration issue became news, inorder to not include bogus claims of the defect to cover up someones careless driving.

So now there is thinking that the lines emition of eletromagnetic waves cause interfearence in the units.

 

^I've read about that as well. If that turned out to be true, Toyota would be vindicated. No manufacturer can test for EVERY scenario on earth.

 

What kinda statement is that ? People are dead. Maybe they were not the sharpest tool in the shed, when all they had to do was put it in neutral, but bottom line they are dead. What gets them off the hook ? Are they vindicated because you say so. I don't think so. They knew about it and did nothing. It's a business decision, dollars and cents. They thought it would cost less to handle it the way they did by not handling it. They were wrong. End of story. BTW I was happy with the way they they handled my frame rust thru. I just wonder what the different thought process was time.

 

Uh, come off it. People dies every day in vehicles of all makes and models. Motor vehicle fatalities total 40 to 50,000 per year in the US.

There is absolutely no figure, no statistic, no number of any substance to suggest that Toyota's "unintended acceleration problems" were any more common than standard quality control margin of error.

When you sell 10,000,000+ vehicles over a decade and well less than 100 (I think the last count was around 60) are affected by any given defect, you have outstanding quality control.

Peolple need to get over their false "moral outrage" about this situation. There's nothing unusual to get outraged about. The media is playing you like fiddles.
