    If that's the case my post is wrong. These are 10+ 14WA calipers. It would be 5th gen. I thought it changed again. Corrected title and updated.

    I'm interested in any new numbers that you may have. Since you did not mention it, I will assume that you did the post brake test prior to doing the brake in on the brakes :notsure:

    have not had a chance to do a follow up but the initial brake test was after a post install bedding of the brakes but was the same day. Just added a new addition to the family but will try to go out and get a another test. It will not be apples to apples as I have also added some skids, racks and a few other items.

    @nudavinci64, this is a great thread, so thanks for all the research! I'm gearing up for this on my truck now, but am having a hard time finding any calipers. Is there a particular vendor/store that y'all went to? All I've been able to find online are rear calipers and none of the specification information indicates 14WA. I've been to all my local auto part stores too and they don't stock these...sorry, I'm sure this is something easy, but any help is appreciated.

    Thanks Guys. I am enjoying it so far. Its not dramatic but compared to stock its much better. I only used stock pads instead of after market. Ill add some more agressive pads next which should help out even more.

    Ok, I completed this mod today, but it wasn't without struggle with the hub. I had to keep hammering around the hub with a small sledge and a block of wood for a long time...I hope I didn't damage the bearings. Is this always the case when pulling the hub for the first time?

    Also, when I put it back I used the original rotor and caliper so that I could brake and crank down the axle nut. I torqued it to 174 lb, but there seems to be a bit of a gap between the cv and the spindle. Is this normal or do I just need to drive a bit and retorque?

    It's normal to get it off. We used a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to get mine off. It sure about the gap. After we replaced the backing plate we reassembled and tightened it back down. We didn't use the rotor or caliper from what I recall. Them installed the new rotor and caliper.

    Have you swapped to the 4Runner Calipers/Rotors? I’m running StopTech Rotors but plan to swap to EBC Pads. Debated on using them at the time of the swap but got some OEM pads at the time. EBC Yellow or Green pads will be next pad setup.

    No my brakes are currently 100% OEM. Brakes feel really weak right now with 37’s so I need more stopping power. Not sure if the yellow stuff pads and steel braided brake lines with be enough or if I will have to throw on the 4Runner rotors and calipers as well.

    Hard to say, New, Pads, Stainless lines and fluid will help. The 4runner swap is fairly cheap so an easy one to do. You could do the 4runner swap and use EBC or stoptech rotors then swap in the pads you want. Minly you would need the calipers and backing plates to complete the swap. Only item I am missing is aftermarket pads witha more aggressive pad.

    I think the plan I have came up with is to go ahead and swap the brake lines and install the ebc yellowstuff pads and see how I like it. If I want more I can swap the 4runner rotors and calipers. Since the tacoma and 4runner use the same pads I can reuse the ebc pads with the 4runner calipers

    Sounds like a good plan. Did not realize they use the same pads. You get about 18mm larger rotor and you can go with slotted for less brake fade if you decide to swap it.
