Does anybody know if the 3rd gen hood is direct fit to the second gen hood mounts or would I need to run pins all around?

Short tube all the way closed would turn it into an expensive double bypass, I would leave it open a little bit at least

Thanks, yeah I didn't close it all the way, but did turn it in 10 full turns. Ran out of daylight yesterday so getting ready to head out in an hour or so and try to dial everything in. Felt good last night, but want to do the whole film the truck and watch to see what its doing thing to fine tune it.

Anybody install a total chaos +2 or +3.5" kit on a 3rd gen? Looking at welding up limit strap mounts and the space to weld them on a 3rd gen is super tight and hard to weld compared to a 2nd gen. The bumpstops extrusion is way higher on the frame compared to the 2nd gen. Pics for reference. IMG_1854.jpg
This space is where it says to weld the mount for a 3rd gen. the extruded part where the brake lines and bump stop is on is so much higher on the frame than a 2nd gen. IMG_1855.jpg
Pretty sure I can't fit a welder there

Notice the space available here. This is a 2nd gen frame.

Looks like you could get a welder in from above if you unbolted the brake line bracket..

The most would be a small tack and maybe a 1/4" bead at most which isn't enough

Any way to cut a piece of steel to fit between the coilbucket and bump. That can sit flat against the frame. Weld the bracket to that piece then weld the flat piece to the truck?

What I mean is something like this but shaped to fit in your spot.

That's a great idea! I'll try to see what I can come up with. Thanks for the idea. I did some research on other 3rd gens with the same kit and found 2 pictures with it in that spot so it is possible. Baja kits uses a different mounting tab location on the LCA and angles it towards the rearward section of the frame.

IMG_4632.jpg About finished. Whipped up a quick jig for the new mounts, made it pretty easy to locate and square up.
