Today was the first time I’ve ever applied Fluid Film. Holy crap I wasn’t prepared for the smell.

    So now some noob questions:

Is it going to hold up through car washes (including the undercarriage) this winter?

I removed the skid plates and sprayed beneath them. Will I need to do that each year?

I used 2 aerosol cans. Does that sound right?

I use about 3 quarts when I spray them. I’ve done my fathers truck twice and it’s stuck on there a lot better than mine which I’ve only done once. He doesn’t drive it much though. The outside frame rails, axle, and wheel wells have washed off on mine. I need to lay it on thicker this year.

Just had mine done yesterday at a Fluid Film party makes the frame look shiny and new. But washing I believe will take it right off as where normal daily driving probably won't.

So it’s kind of a leap of faith without washing the undercarriage then

One of the guys that had his done yesterday had been doing his every year, I'm convinced. Think it was a 12 year old truck, clean frame.

    yep..
I used about 5 cans, but I went heavy and coated literally everything metal from front to back, removed spare, sprayed inside hood panels, tailgate, bottom of doors, under bed bolts, you name it. Did this bit by bit over a period of 2 months. Its almost a hobby of mine now, whenever I get bored, I go out and see what else needs Fluid Film.

I don’t wash the underneath of truck until winter is over, then reapply as needed

I use almost a half gallon a year. I will be doing mine in the coming weeks. I typically do not wash mine during the year, I just hose down at the end of the season and reapply in the fall. I should have done mine for this year today but the weather was too nice not to take the car out for one of the last times.

    The smell is appalling, though.

Did mine today. Only used a quart. Last year I used a few quarts. Stays on pretty well for me and I rinse the truck off about once a week in the winter.
    Smell is horrible but bearable.

Shear a little wool from a dead sheep's bloated carcass that's been waterlogged in a drainage ditch for a few weeks, then stick it under your nose. Fluid Film.

Worse that your shorts when your rotted frame breaks in two out on a trail 200 miles from home?

You can wash it with a hose however I don't suggest washing it with a pressure washer and it'll come off eventually.
