Anyone have one and install it yet?
Finding the instructions of little help for alignment for the template to cut the fender.

Picture is small and black and white barely shows the alignment. Just points to 'align' spots but can't tell what they are.

I'm guessing the template aligns with the bottom of the A pillar basically following the line of the fender but the spot I'm lost is where it lines up at the other end. Does it go into the hood line or does it line up with the fender line as well.

@dorton any info when you did yours?

Do you have the template? With that's it's really easy to install. Just cut out the holes, hold it, draw where to cut.

Mask the fender first. Don't drill the a pillar. Use heavy duty double sided tape.

Meh.... I drilled the A pillar. No issues.

Living in SLC I didn't want that to start rusting from the inside out. Plus you can't go back to no snorkel easily.

i plan on using the double sided tape.

And yes I have the template

problem is I'm not sure where its supposed to line up to to mark where to cut.

The picture shows all these marks that say align but its such a small picture and black and white you can barely tell what its actually saying to align to.

I'd be concerned with water getting in.

Where did you align the template to?

Does it go to the bottom of the A pillar of the fender and then to the hood?

I primed and siliconed the SS screws and used fiber washers. Should be good. Cut the template and it will tell you exactly where to tape it off. After you have the holes drilled in the fender test fit the snorkel and just mark where the drill of velcro attachment goes. Your choice.

the template doesn't say anything on it?

and the instructions just say align. I'm trying to find out where it aligns. My concern is basically on the Y axis. because theres only an inch of play up and down of where you can cut and if its wrong it might not cover.

    I wish I could remember.

All I recall is lining the one edge up with the edge of th fender and I think the other was the hood line. It was kind of tricky to fit around the curves.

The good news is that thing is so big you have room to make mistakes.

not vertically its only an inch up and down haha I put the template over the snorkel to see that very thing.

But thats where I'm not sure. Is it the hood line or the line of the fender.

This is what the instructions say

just want to be sure that is the hood line of the fender and the fender line up to the a pillar is the back.

Actually with the scan I can brighten it a bit more so it seems a bit better now that yes it is the roof line and a pillar line.Scan.jpg

Perfect. So that's it. Line up to rear edge of fender and top of fender. Then start hacking!:sawzall:

@Glueman just realized you have a 2nd gen.
The alignment is obviously different for yours vs 3rd gen so your not really of much help here.
Hell doesn't the 2nd gen hole get cut by a hole saw in the first place? This ones an oval so no holesaw

nice I was thinking the same thing with the silicone etc.

So am I on the right track that the template lines up to the hood line and the door/a pillar?

Also what did you use to cut the hole out? I dont have a body saw so was thinking jigsaw

Anything with a bunch of fine teeth for metal cutting... going slow is the key IMO for a nice cut. As far as the template goes it lines up between the door and fender gap and the hood and fender gap

    perfect.
what did you use to cut it out?

I was thinking either going at it by hand with a hacksaw blade and one of those milwaukee things that holds it.
Or my jigsaw with a new metal fine tooth blade. Problem is I can't seem to find that fine of a tooth metal blade.

Definitely going to be going super slow haha.
