Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a search and couldn’t find what I was looking for. I installed an amp, following the instructions, but now the amp is on even if the car isn’t started. Yes, I wired the amp power 8-gauge wire right to the battery per the directions and installed the fuse, the remote is connected to the radio’s power wire, and everything works good because I’ve already tested it and listened to the sub. I just don’t want to drain the battery, so I disconnected the amp’s power wire from the battery for now. If anyone has some insight of where I should wire it so it comes on when the key turns, especially with pixs, please let me know. Thanks all!

Your remote is most likely tapped into radio constant power, you want switched/ignition power. It's behind the radio or you can add a fuse and tap off the fuse block.

You would have been good just removing the fuse from the power wire.

Not sure I understand about removing the fuse part. It’s still directly wired to the battery even without the fuse, so wouldn’t it still always be on?

I'm assuming your amps power wire is fused about a foot from the battery then continues how ever many feet to the amp. Theres no need to disconnect the power wire from the battery if you remove the fuse. Once the fuse is removed you "break the link" and now power goes past the fuse holder.

Its your remote wire, its hooked to a constant power wire. It needs to be tapped into something thats only on when your truck is on

Okay, I will go back in and check this. I looked up the wiring harness and it looks like there is a blue wire with white stripe that is the amplifier power wire. Hopefully an easy and quick fix. Thanks for the help!

Yes, I just put in an aftermarket and ran all the wires at the same time, taping into the white "radio power" wire....didn't realize there was a different wire. Thanks!

Okay, just wanted to update all those who care. :D

I unhooked the amps remote wire from the white power wire on the back of the radio, and spliced it into the blue wire with white strip, just like @ManBeast suggested. I have no idea what this wire is called, but all the videos and searching on the net also showed to use this wire for external amp hookup. So now it's all good!:bananadance:
