Indeed. Scientists can be just as guilty of dismissing ideas that don't conform to their view of the world. We'd like to think otherwise, but those working in the sciences are just as human as the rest of us. (this observation also made directly in working with and supporting a number of theoreticians and experimentalists in a prior work engagement).

We see this daily all around the forests outside Yosemite. Tourists come here and think it’s not a camping experience unless they have a fire. Even with restrictions in place and on their permit. Call me gun shy about fire but the ignorance level in tourists can’t be overlooked.
