I used to specialize in this platform (.CETME/G3/HK91)
If you ever go that route, make sure you do all the pre-reading you can on the delayed roller block blowback system and what to look for, especially used ones.
( if you can find a milled body instead of a stamped body, the quality is much better and your resale value will remain high)
There very fun rifles but they are a very unique platform and notoriously difficult to mount optics.

That's why I was looking at the C308. They are a collaboration between Century and PTR. They also have an integrated Picatinny rail along the top of the receiver. Reviews on the first run were hit and miss, but most of the more recent offerings appear to be good performers. Then again, I heard the same feedback on the Sig 556R a few years ago. When I picked up one in the "trouble free" SN range, I ended up sending it back to Sig for warranty work multiple times (light primer strikes, failure to feed, etc). I ended up dumping it. Had the same issues with a Sig Mosquito. I've completely sworn off any new Sig offerings.

I had a gen 2 556R that was flawless. Sold it though. Didn't have anything else in x39 so it didn't get much use. Shame really, SIG screwed the pooch after that with the xi garbage that came next.

And I do want to add, if you reload your 308 cases, all of the centme style rifles render their cases unreloadable because of the fluting that’s put in the chamber to drive the casing out of the chamber when you shoot

So... what y'all think of an AK47 instead? I live in California is why... only ten round mags and the bullet button for the AR is now illegal here too...

I've never even seen one states side but shot a few in Asia. They were rusty and probably never cleaned but worked like a charm. And I figure they are cheap, hit harder and aren't in the focus of the crazy lawmakers in Sacramento... yet

Word, not a fan of the safety either but other than that I like them. And if you can only fit ten rounds might as well make them bigger... and so far none of you have called me a commie over it...

I don't reload. I mostly use surplus/bulk ammo. I've got some 54R that is older than my PSL and almost as old as my M44 Nagant. Still goes bang every time I use it. Well, more like BOOM. I'll just say, it's not uncommon for people to move to a different firing lane after setting up next to me. The M44 is cut down to 16.5" and is wearing a Phantom. The PSL is cut to 17" or 18" and has an A2 birdcage...

Any more, I think the Sig M400 and M&P AR offerings are priced lower than what I'm seeing AK's selling for...
