Still working on it. Rims getting pretty beat up now.

Using hole saws to drill the lugnut part around the stud. Stud just breaks drill bits all the time. Getting close, im busy with work and life like everyone so when i feel like wasting time i go and try to drill some more at it. Hopefully will get enough material off to kind of rim the wheel off once its close.

just sent these guys an email http://www.uteltd.com . Im curious to see how far the price is from a new cap, better rack setup, and fixing the bed. However, if I keep this bed, nothing else is going on the rail, so the price compared to a best top, rack over top and what not.

just priced it out. $2450 for the bed and 1900 for the canopy (the one you linked). When you consider a rear bumper and a fibreglass cap are close to that....

There are some other items, like shipping, exchange, light kit, etc that aren't there, but In very large hind site its not crazy. Like the norwled flatbed is like 7-9gs....

That's not unreasonable. I'm interested as well.

I like the idea of them since they have storage under it as well with truck undercarriage boxes.

I wonder if you could just get a new bed from a scrap yard for a decent price?
or like an old Tundra bed?

Met up with a guy off kijiji tonight and bought two Prinsu Fab roof racks (Cab rack and Cap rack for short bed taco). They are both basically brand new with no scratches or marks at all. Got both for $1000 which when you consider that the Cab Rack alone is 550 USD before shipping or import charges, its not a bad deal

Would it make sense financially to build your own flat bed? Obviously its a fairly large project and would take a while but if you only end up spending $1000 in metal isnt that a win? No idea how long a project like that would even take

That what I was thinking. Group buy....

Considered it but then I’m back to square one, have to get a new cap, and everything. For the price this may be better, more versatile, more storage (deck is 6x6.5 as it goes over the wheels). Plus the whole flatbed is 250lbs and 500 with the cap on it. Much lighter than my current set up.
    Awesome score.
Considered it but there is a lot to it and to do it out of aluminum the cost goes up. Plus I think that project may be out of my realm. Have to look into it a lot more.

can't find anything on long travel on their website so guessing maybe don't make it anymore?

Or its just Mid travel? Thats all I'm finding on their site at least.
Meh regardless if I were ever to do LT, Kings is the way to go.

But its not just coils for LT its a lot more.
I looked into it when I did my mid travel. Its so much work to do. Coils are just one part of it. Still need UCAs LCAs, extended axles, say byebye to swaybar, extended brake lines, new spindle gussets, bunch of other shit.

It just keeps adding up thats why I decided not to do it.

Well I would have to do it in steel and that’s a whole nother problem. With weight and all. The aluminum flatbeds are used in commercial so they are tough to a point. The bed isn’t going to get too fucked Offroad. Considering my current ways of driving.

Just saw an aluminum contractor cap similar to the one joe just posted on Kijiji for $250. fits 6ft tacoma otherwise I would of snapped it up right away. Could buy that and shed 100-200lbs of weight right there from your current cap
