Yeah. Just need a rack for it too. Plus moving the electronics.

Pretty much I’m going to see where the bed is at, worst case run it into the ground and go flat bed unless I can get a new bedside.

I want to make sure I am able to fix this and not just throw money at it and it keep breaking. Rather let it chill this winter and see how she fares with nothing on and what not. In no rush, just weighing the options of everything right now.

    Appreciate the looking out though!

Contractor caps have the rack built into the roof brah, look at the pic joe posted. Its basically the perfect overland cap/RTT cap carrier. And they are quite a bit lighter than the reinforced fibreglass caps cause of dat aluminum. Only thing is they dont look as nice as the fibreglass caps as a result.

    Or

Scrap old bedsides+fenders and get Fiberwerx bedsides?

I haven’t done a thing yet. Haven’t driven it much either. Just trying to plan my attack and figure out where I’m putting everything. I tend to think a lot before getting into projects....have to find where to put my rtt, how to get the cap off, where to put it. Bunch of shit. Works not helping either.

Definitely an option. Don’t think Fiberglas hold up to the weight lol.

Yeah I would have to agree with you haha. Flat bed definitely seems like the better option right now if you dont want to invest in new bedsides/a new cap

Issue is I can fix it and go back to square one and be good, or be right back where I am. The money at this point is pretty close (could be done really cheap, but your talking a lot of waiting around on kijiji)

IMO the flat bed isnt going to be cheap either. I think going back to square one is definitely a viable option, but yes you would probably be better off waiting around for the right deal to come by and acquiring stuff over time, rather than all at once to do it as cheap as possible. You could do something like what Leo was saying (build an internal skeleton of sorts) inside the cap to distribute the weight onto the frame and not the bedsides, and choose a lighter cap such as an aluminum contractor cap. That way you're dropping the total weight of your rig significantly and better yet, the weight that is on there wont be hammering the bedsides into oblivion. I know it sounds like im preaching the aluminum caps but I think it would be great in this scenario, you could even weld the skeleton right to the inside of the cap for added rigidity and support.

I still have lots of options (which is nice). The other thing is they are close in price point too which is even better. I think the flatbed is 2450US plus freight or what ever I told Leo. Considering that’s not crazy when some racks are 1800 lol. Lots and lots of options and some are easier than others. Just have to figure how much I could get for my current parts and if it would make it worth it.

fuck my bed rack was $1007USD lol.

Besides where is this place where the flat bed would be coming from?
Down for a road trip? haha

Or ship to a fedex location by the border? simple fix sure state freight would be easier than crossing borders freight.

Or maybe look into a container? You can rent/buy them relatively cheap. I know a few guys that brought cars over from Japan that way

Your just showing off. Lol. Does your cap cause any issues on the bed?

Details of the trip!!! Sounds awesome.

Flatbed is from Washington. They ship but still road trips are fun!
