01 2.4L Major problem

Hello everyone, I am here for some advice.

My mom has had her Tacoma for about 6 months now, and she has been getting 13 MPG. Its stock, no lift I assume stock tires.

She has been having poor MPG since she got it there are only 50k miles on the truck. We put a set of new Good Year's on it and I threw some synth oil in there and sprayed carb cleaner through the throttle body to clean any gunk out of there. And the air filter is brand new.

SO a month later we are still getting 13 mpg.

Today I am taking the truck to the local Autozone to do an OBD2 scan, the check engine light is not on but I figure the computer may store soft codes.

Will the Computer pickup a bad 02 or Mass air Sensor or do those need to be checked another way?

I am used to working with my diesel ram not on a gasser (never touched a gasser)

I am planning on changing the spark plugs on the thing, does anyone know the gap settings needed. And at 50 thousand miles would it be worth it to replace the cables for the spark plugs?

Skip the wires. But whatever, it won't hurt.

 

I remember my dad saying stuff about spark plugs being damaged indicating things, what would be the ideal conditions for the plugs to come out looking like?

 

Ok so i got back from the parts store and its throwing

P0300 Misfire
P0100 MAF or VAF Malfunction
P0110 IAT Sensor Circut
P0125 Closed loop Fuel Ctrl
P1135 Manufacturer control fuel air meter
P0171 System to lean
P1130 Manufacturer control fuel air meter

Does this look like an electrical problem, or just one problem Setting off a bunch of others?

was replaced less than 30 days ago

 

OH I see this in the post now- do you think it's possible that some sort of leaves or other restriction might have entered the air intake manifold? I'm going to back off now before I make myself sound like an idiot.

 

clean your maf sensor and replace the fuel filter and see what happens.

 

X2 on cleaning the MAF sensor. Remember to only use an MAF cleaner, CRC makes a spray specifically for that.
