AAL for 5100s?

Hi all,

I tried the search function, but there are so many existing threads on different 5100 set ups that it is tough to find the information I'm looking for. I have a 2010 SR5 with the TSB done in the rear. I'm looking to do 5100s set at 2.5", but I'm a little hazy on what size/brand AAL pack to use in the back. I have a shell, a trailer hitch, a tailgate reinforcement plate, bed extender, and a bed mat in the back to add to the weight. I was leaning towards doing a 2" AAL, but I want to make sure that was the correct size. If so, any recommendations on brands? Thanks!

I have the Deaver AAL 2' to the rear. Headstrong is a good company to go with.

 

A 2' ADD A LEAF WHOA! How do you like your rear end 24" higher?

lol dick. you know what i meant, 2''. its pretty good. fuck the haters. i have a topper coming in soooooooo, the ride should mellow out even more with sustained weight across the bed.

 

I have a 2" AAL not sure what brand, it rides great with my topper and sits quite level with my 5100's up front. Stock springs with 5100's maxed out for now. Will be going 887's once I get the 63" chevy leaf swap done in the rear. 285/70/17's clear, but rub at bump and lock.

 

Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning on running bigger tires, but I'm just looking at 255/85/r16s. Given how skinny they'll be, im hoping to get away without doing a CMC or UCAs since I'm keeping it under 3". Also planning on keeping stock springs.

 

Who hates on the AAL? I have the same setup and my rear leafs squeak

I have the three leaf from Wheelers and i really like it. I've installed them on four friend's trucks and they all have camper shells and 5100's on the front and the back. Their trucks are level.

I went with the Wheelers Offroad. From what I understand Wheelers, Headstrong and Icon AAL are all the same product. The only reason I went with Wheelers is because it's based out of CA so I didn't have to pay sales tax and got it cheaper than the other two.

 

Didn't work there, I just like that my truck was built there.

 

While I'm still trying to decide on the brand of AAL (suggestions welcome - I don't see any kind of consensus on this), I'm curious if there is anything else I need to order. For example, do I need spacers for the taco lean? Any other components? I'm hoping to do everything in one shot. Thanks!

 

You probably aren't going to get a consensus. But you probably aren't going to go wrong with a number of different directions. I'd recommend a three leaf pack (the one leaf lifts always looked like a rough way to get lift-but I've never owned one). A leaf is just a couple pieces of metal. There aren't many moving parts. Get one. Install it. Report back how you like it. The rear suspension on these trucks is crap and you'll probably love any improvement you make. I have the Wheeler 3 leaf pack pack and I love it. I've installed it on 4 friends trucks, and they all like it.

 

i got the spacer for the taco lean. helped out a bunch. im OCD as fuck so yeah.

 

Any recommendations on spacers? Do I need to install a shim in the rear leaf pack as well?
