Urgent! Buying a used 2017 PRO

Nah, just washed well.
I find myself reaching back here and cleaning those shiny and red colored bits.

 

They seem like honest people and trying to make me feel better about the after market sunroof so I can move forward with the purchase. I know this may not be the thread for it but now someone has to decide whether I'm still responsible for the car since paperwork has been signed.... will know more tomorrow when a manager calls.

What an experience. Who knows what will happen and I might just be stuck with this car which isn't the end of the world .

Not sure when you bought yours, but you could not order one at all when I was in the market. If you were able to find one, you got it however it was.

I think you may be able to back out anyway if the sunroof is not mentioned anywhere.

Who did the sunroof install?

Who warranties it?

Who do you go to if there is ever a problem with it since your local Toyota dealer is not going to touch it?

You're buying a truck from 2k miles away. If a local shop did the install you'll be SOL if there is ever an issue and heaven forbid the install was done poorly.

One good off road flex and it could cause all kinds of "non-warranty" issues with the truck.

The aftermarket roof has tapped into at least structural and electrical systems. Any issue with anything connected to those systems and the dealer will (rightfully) take a stand back attitude.

If it was done by a national group like ASC, you're probably OK.

 

Just get on the phone....get pics, confirmation and ask questions about who did what.

You can still unwind this if needbe.

 

Not if they totally misrepresented the truck to you and did not disclose something they should have to you.
TIP!! have any lawyer friends that would not mind you dropping their name if they give you trouble about backing out?

I think I read where you are dealing in CA.? if so there should be many consumer laws there (liberal state that tends to be on the side of the comsumer) that you could quote as well without even going the lawyer route.
Use the internet to look up Ca. consumer protection laws as they relate to auto purchases

 

The sunroof was documented, both in pictures, and in the description.

 

Um. no pros come with a sunroof. none of the models.

 

Best choice you could have made. I got my 17 OR and i couldnt be happier

 

My mom, just bought a 2017 Highlander and had them add a moon roof. I told her she was nuts, and does she really want some kid cutting into her roof with a grinder and sawzall.

Turns out it looks 100% factory and works perfect. I was shocked. They changed the headliner and everything and the seals look just as good as anything factory. They added the moon roof for free along with a Kenwood Nav deck to seal the deal.

 

EDIT: I wouldn't worry about an aftermarket moon roof. It's a 3rd gen there will be plenty of other things to worry about just kidding congratulations and enjoy

do you have a copy of the paperwork you can review before they call?
My apologies for this, but it is possible they're going to say you can't back out even if you can.

 

By mentioned I really mean "Documented", or where it came from.

Does it say Factory sunroof or Aftermarket sunroof installed, as that would have a major bearing on any warranty work.

Once again, if it's a national installer there is likely no issue with a warranty problem.

If it's local it could be a huge issue.

 

You mean as a special order? It's definitely NOT a standard option (thank God, or my wife would have made me get one - the lack of one was my favorite TRD-Pro "feature")
