If not, they're an easy upgrade. I bought the genuine Ford parts on ebay for $150 from a dealership out West. Install took maybe an hour; it's just a matter of dropping the spare, swapping out the factory wiring harness, popping the plastic covers out and popping the lights in. Then you have to take it to the dealer to get programmed, but I did this as soon as I bought my truck and then I called them up and said "my bed lights aren't working"
They didn't ask if they were factory installed and I didn't tell them, so it was free. :D

Guys please look into getting an extinguisher with a rubber hose while anything is better than nothing I’ve seen a few bad wheel well fires and one undercarriage fire and one of them the car burnt to the ground because the small aim and shoot extinguishers can’t shoot up the can needs to be upright. You can if you have a rubber hose point the hose up into the wheel well our undercarriage while holding the can upright. It’s only a few dollars more for a significant increase in functionality

    MASSTUNING’S MA STATE INSPECTION FAQS

As requested by several members, here’s a compiled list of FACTS most relevant to car enthusiasts registered in the state of Massachusetts. There’s been lots of confusion lately and misinformation being passed around, especially in the attempts for protests or petitions. Let’s start by laying the biggest rumor to rest:

NO VEHICLE INSPECTION LAWS ARE CHANGING.

So what exactly are the changes then?

•3 Wall Bay Cameras (delayed but will be implemented before January 1, 2018).
•Camera on top of the workstation monitor used to photograph the inspector.
•Handheld camera used to take pictures of the: (1) front and (2) rear of the vehicle, (3) public VIN plate and (4) odometer. The handheld camera can also be used to take pictures of failed inspection items at the inspector’s discretion.

So what’s not changing? Everything else that’s always been in place for years:

•All vehicles registered in Massachusetts must pass an annual safety inspection.
•Vehicles with on-board diagnostic systems manufactured after model year 2002 (15 years or older) must also pass an annual emissions test.
•The Massachusetts Vehicle Check annual inspection fee is $35 for most vehicles.

So what exactly is involved in the safety inspection? Fourteen key components:

    1. Visual Overview
    •Certificate of registration
    •Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
    •License plate(s)

“Regulations require that all letters, numbers, stickers, and symbols must be clearly visible on the number plate. A number plate frame that obstructs any part of the plate is illegal, and you could be fined for having an obstructed plate (this includes ‘The Spirit of America’ and ‘Massachusetts’).”

    2. Brake Tests
    •Parking brake
    •Service brake

    3. Exhaust System
    •Exhaust system components/muffler
    •Excessive blue or black smoke

“Accelerate motor to test for prevention of unnecessary noise and emission of any unreasonable amount of smoke. The exhaust system, exhaust manifold(s), exhaust pipe(s), muffler(s), and tailpipe(s), if designed to be so equipped, shall be tight and free of leaks. System components shall be securely fastened with fasteners in place and undamaged. All motor vehicle exhaust systems shall discharge the exhaust beyond operator, passenger, and/or trunk compartment. Unnecessary noise is herein defined as any noise which is louder than that emitted by the vehicle when equipped with the original manufacturer's equipment. A gas or diesel vehicle will be rejected if, at normal operating temperature, when at idle or any constant speed, visible black or blue exhaust emissions are evident.”

    4. Steering and Suspension
    •Steering wheel and box
    •Suspension/front end
    •Springs
    •Shocks

    5. Horn
•Sound horn to test for adequate signal
•The horn must be securely fastened to the vehicle

    6. Glazing, Glass and Windshield Wipers
    •Windshield
    •Windshield wipers and washer
    •Windows
    •Window tinting

“For most vehicles, aftermarket tinting that registers at least 35% on a tint meter on side windows immediately adjacent to the driver and front passenger seats, and side windows immediately to the rear of the operator and passenger, is acceptable. The rear window may be tinted to the 35% level, but the vehicle must be equipped with two outside rear view mirrors. The windshield may only be tinted down to the AS-1 line, which is usually located in the uppermost (6) inches of the windshield.”

“No poster, sticker decal or any other item shall be attached to the windshield in such a manner to obstruct the vision of the operator.”

    7. Rear View Mirror
    •Rear view mirror
    •Mirrors (general)

    8. Lighting Devices
    •Tail lights
    •Directional (turn signal lights)
    •Head light aim
    •Hazard lights/Reverse lights/License plate light(s) and reflectors
    •Aftermarket lighting

    9. Tires and Wheels
    •Tires
    •Wheels

    10. Bumper, Fenders and Fuel Tank
    •Bumpers
    •Fenders
    •Floor pans
    •Fuel tank
    •Vehicle frame or unibody

    11. Altered Vehicle Height

“The original manufacturer’s specified height of motor vehicles with an original manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less shall not be altered by elevating or lowering the chassis or body by more than two inches, except that four-wheel drive motor vehicles with an original manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less may be altered in accordance with the provisions of 540 CMR 6.00. The Registrar may periodically provide approved altered vehicle height specifications for said four-wheel drive vehicles. Any motor vehicle altered, modified, or changed beyond the two inches, or the Registrar's approved altered height specifications, shall be rejected.”

    12. Seat Belts
    13. Airbags
    14. Fuel Tank Cap

So what exactly is involved in the emissions inspection? An on-board diagnostics (OBD) test:

“A vehicle shall fail the on-board diagnostics test if:
    1. the data link connector is missing, has been tampered with, or malfunctions, or the OBD system has been altered in such a way as to make OBD system testing impossible
    2. the malfunction indicator light is commanded by the OBD system to be illuminated
    3. the malfunction indicator light does not illuminate properly when commanded on by the OBD system
    4. the vehicle’s OBD system reveals insufficient readiness codes or
    5. the vehicle’s OBD system reveals other OBD system malfunctions or conditions.”

The most common causes of emissions test failures include:
•Malfunctioning components that regulate fuel/air ratio, such as oxygen sensors
    •Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves
    •Engine misfire
    •Catalytic converters
•Evaporative controls, including poor-fitting gas caps

That’s pretty much it, folks. At least for most of you. If you’d like to read more, here are the sources:

DISCLAIMER: I am not an inspector nor manage an inspection station. I simply did some research from public resources available to all and performed some basic editing for easier reading. Feel free to correct or add to this announcement but try to provide some proof to be convincing. No fake news here.

If you’ve made it this far, feel free to share this post with anyone who may benefit from this information. Constructive criticism is also welcomed and encouraged. And for those who would like to petition changes to this inspection program, try focusing on the vagueness of the regulations. Laws are only as good as its enforcement. Thanks for reading.

    sounds right to me buddy

I’ve been talking to my guy a lot lately he’s already gone through training and holds a very reputable shop. He said absolutely no new laws are going into effect the reason why it’s getting blown so far out of proportion is because the cameras will make it impossible to pass a “stance bro” or the obnoxious drop down lifts. And ricer pipes. If you went to a honest shop before and passed you will be okay. If you constantly ask people to look the other way you might be out of luck. Personally I’m glad those pos stance bros are gonna get taken off the road. Mass roads aren’t nice enough to only have 1” of clearance and I see atleast one accident a week from those cars swerving around bumps on the highway

Honda's is by far the best one out there that I've driven in. Almost like a real Automatic. But still...not a stick.

Honda autos suck anyways! I sell tons of them! No way in the world I would buy one of their CVT's! Believe it or not Nissan seems to have the best one
