Its very fuckin real. An all too common and horrific sight up here these days. Shit is heartbreaking seeing people have to deal with complete and total loss.
Makes me very thankful and feel extremely lucky to not have to go through it

It will make good wall art. Sad but insurance will replace the truck, he lived to tell the story, alot of people didnt. Crazy how fast things can change.

My friends Harley, you can see the molten metal rivers from below the frame. This is the family that had to abandon their getaway vehicle because the tires were on fire. Note the pre-taco Toyotas that were lost as well.

So coming home tonight from class i got off the freeway and sitting at a red light.
I see two dark sedans fly by on the cross street doing 50+ in a 35 zone. One aways ahead of the other. Took 90 degree turn onto a side street completely sideways and almist lost it. The other following. Locked it up and sideways half up on the sidewalk.
I thought dumb drunk kids right.

Well im a few seconds behind them and going the same direction as its in my neighborhood. A few blocks from home.
I get home and get out of my truck and i can hear tires still screeching through my neighborhood. Then the come to a stop and was followed by 9 or 10 handgun blast. 4 or five then followed by 4 more.
Not sure what that was about but it got my heart racing hearing the shots. And i live in a good neighborhood, well at least i thought so.

I bought a dashcam last year, 6 months later it died and stopped recording. won't even boot up now. :-/

it worked pretty good when it was working, quality sharp clear 1080p video, very wide angle field, decent night vision.

It’s a scary world out there. My dad was at the shooting range and on his route home he cut through to head to Dixon. He came up to a corner out in the farm side where some vehicle was parked and a man was standing outside waving his arms like he needed help. My dad thankfully knows to just slow down and inspect and keep going and maybe call for help if needed. He slowed down and the guy jumps in front of the truck and pulls a gun on him and points it directly at my dad. Instinctively he just hit the gas and the man got out of the way. He called 911 but they seemingly gave him the run around.

While carrying wouldn’t have helped in his situation because he was already drawn on, it at least could have helped had things gone any different. The only thing I’m thankful for is that he didn’t shoot. And now my dad sees why I carry 24/7 and am always ready. He too just got his permit but didn’t see the need to carry all the time. That has now changed.

They were probably just passing through. You're a stone's throw from Oak Park.

possibly but they were coming from the other direction.
im in the middle of many bad neighbor hoods. as in every major city there is bad areas. Like Sam said above it happens in the middle of nowhere as well. seems like the crazy's are becoming more common, and the amount of dumb fucks are growing at an alarming rate. it seems daily someone will run a stop sign on a two way stop in front of me. 4 times since Friday. twice I had tires screeching to avoid hitting them dumb fucks.
I starting to feel like im bad luck, and starting to hate to drive anywhere. and as the holiday season approaches its only going to get worse.

right? im guessing its some form of robbery attempt. Hoping someone slows down then jacks them. Otherwise he would have shot, one would think.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I'll be down there in a year... but I already know I won't be staying there after retirement. Gotta find a place my money will be mine, not the states.
