Lift Height Loss after TC UCA Install....

Some of you may think I am crazy, but after installing 5100/Eibachs w/ factory UCAs, and going to TC UCAs, the truck only has 1" of lift.

After all of my vibe problems, I went back to stock UCAs, stock springs and used 5100s @ 0. After new tires and the vibe TSB performed, my vibes were almost non-existent. I then decided to give the Eibachs a try with the 5100s at 0. With the factory UCAs, I got right at 1.7" of lift.

Two days later, I reinstalled my TC UCAs, and to my surprise, I lost .7" of lift. WTF?? The UCAs should have no bearing on the lift height, but it did with mine. I drove it a while and measured again to find the same reading.

Anyone out there experience this? Any ideas why this happened?

I would guess it is your springs breaking in. New springs will always be higher right after install then will settle in after a week or so.

 

The springs were not on there even a week. Two days. Besides, it would not lose that much on break in.

 

Your truck should have the same front height even without UCAs. I don't see how the UCA could have that effect. Weird one here.

 

It is weird. I called TC and they said that it could have been because the factory UCA is "pinched" when the crossbolt is tightened. Therefore, not allowing it to pivot freely and keeping the truck held up. I did notice that wuth the factory UCA, it does not pivot easily when disconnected from the spindle, unless you loosen the cross bolt. That said, it has nothing to do with the lift....

 

Any chance you heard a weird 'pop' or something? I wonder if the springs weren't seated all the way and then worked their way into the seat at some point between UCAs.

Are you doing the work? Sure you didn't have a .5" spacer or something that's not there now?

Definitely a head scratcher.

Are you measuring form the ground or from the center of your wheel?

sounds about right as far as the amount of lift though. I have heard that the dc 4x4's are only seeing about 1" of lift?

 

Yep, I did the work and nothing popped. I have done this process at least a half dozen times. There were no spacers previously used.

 

Hey yeah just installed the TC's. Was looking at the front end and looked lower? Haven't aligned yet but am also confused to why it would affect ride height. Ever finger out why?
