Heh. Well, there's a snack bar atop Stone Mountain here near ATL. Though lots of folks take the tramway up instead of the trail.

Sometimes you can see the trainwreck before it happens.

Years ago in GSMNP my son and I were heading out of the park down the Rainbow Falls trail and we encountered a husband, wife, and small child heading in towards the falls. She was clearly *done*, yet he was cluelessly gung-ho to keep on to the falls having only covered one mile of the nearly five and a half mile round-trip distance. This is a moderate to difficult trail too.

I suspect that day didn't quite turn out how he'd expected.

Well, they're in a park and they're walking, right? :D

    Every. Damn. Day.

10 mile hikes with a single bottle of water for family of four.
Flip flops. On trails known for rattlesnakes.
Parents letting toddlers wade in the Merced. 60-some degrees at 5miles an hour. (Michael Phelps only swims 4mph)
    No maps.
Starting 12 mile hike at 5pm with no headlamp.

It’s my job to talk to these people for Preventative SAR (PSAR) hoping to head off issues before the Visitor becomes a mission.

    I really really dislike them.

True that. Especially when starting a Half Domer at about three or four in the afternoon! That's about a five AM start. I used to do my best to talk them into turning around cuz bears and shit. :D

Because then you'll know? :D I'd never buy one, but if they offered a sample I'd probably have to try it just for the heck of it.

Remember a girl would like "Beauty over Brains" because a guy can "See better than he can Think"
