Legit question: is ground clearance really the only thing that differentiates the two off-road?

...as for the other part, that sounds a little backhanded toward tacoma owners. I just turned 34 and I'm looking at a tacoma. I don't ever intend to "graduate" from a tacoma to a ridgeline. When the need arises, I plan to move up to a tundra or other full-size.

From a manufacturing / quality standpoint, 1st gen is almost always going to give you more issues.
The previous Ridgelines did not have the dependability you would normally see from Honda.
This "reboot" will probably be similar, as they've once again attempted to reinvent the wheel. I'd personally wait a couple/few years before attempting a Ridgeline.

To each their own, but my God the ridgeline in my opinion is one of the ugliest “trucks” to date... It looks like a mini van... screams feminine to me.

That being said it seems like a practical truck for what it’s worth. Let’s just hope, for the ridgeline crowd, that Honda doesn’t pull the plug on it again. Just can’t get pass the looks..

Ridgeline, the mullet of trucks. Soccer mom in the front, tailgate party in the back.

To be fair that looked like user issues more than anything else. Same channel took it up again with a different driver and it did fine. You can make anything look bad online these days if you try hard enough.

Here is Edmunds showing Tacoma OR blowing its shocks going down a flat washboard road while the Ridgeline did fine. Doesn't mean Ridgeline is better off road.

I actually really like the look of the older Ridgeline. Having owned 3 Hondas (all Civics), I really like the reliability and comfort of Honda vehicles. I read that you may be hauling a motorcycle in the bed. I'd make sure the bike would fit. I know the Tacoma short bed is pretty short, so the tailgate is gonna be down to haul anything like that.

I remember the Ridgeline had some pretty cool storage areas that the Tacoma doesn't have. I can't speak to every Tacoma, but one thing I really don't like about my Tacoma (2014 TRD Off-Road) is the outside temperature is only available through digital radio on my head unit. And that only works about 30% of the time, is often showing the temperature from a location 50 miles away or hasn't updated in 90 minutes. I'd much rather have a real-time sensor that displayed the current temperature outside. Small thing, but annoys the shit out of me. Even my motorcycle did this.

    Work in progress...
The guy needs a 4 door for the times he takes clients to lunch. I think that is where the Ridgeline has the Tacoma beat hands down. I guess it depends on the clients, however, I mean they might want to go wheeling. Yeah, they might want to do just that. Yeah, I would get the Tacoma.

Clients may or may not question your manhood when they climb inside of the odyssey pick up truck.

I think there was a reason he was leading with the Ridge. He had to set the pace on that shit road so they didn't leave him in the dust. As for the blown shocks on the Taco... I'm not sure. Possibly a defective batch? Personally I think the rear is a little too soft on the 3rd gen and could have contributed to the failure.

Edit: I take it back. Looks like the Nissan got fucked up too. I guess the uni body and 4 wheel independent suspension helps mitigate the vibration on that road. I'd like to see the Ridgeline vs a Taco with some Kings.
