Putting this here because no fucking reason at all:

Some divorce talk here, so if you don't want to read it, GTFO.

My son, after 27 years of marriage, threw in the towel. Initially, there was the hope for an "amicable" divorce like you hear about. No lawyers, just two adults handling business like adults.

    Yeah, right.

Everyone knows someone who has divorced, right? It's not possible to remain friends with both parties to a divorce. Choose one or the other or none of the above. Well, let me tell you, that goes for relatives as well.
We, my wife and I, parents and grandparents and great grandparents, are stuck in the middle of a nasty divorce not of our making.

How do we remain the loving extended family of all concerned? How do we not listen to rants from everyone concerned? How do we not hear of the despicable things done to each other in the name of "I'm the victim here"? How do we act when confronted with accusations of traitorous behavior?

Now, you may be thinking I am talking about only our son as behaving this way or that way.
The truth is, we get hit on from all sides except our great granddaughter who is too young to act like an "adult".

So, my reason for posting this here is for those of you who are considering getting married/divorced/whatever, it's not all about you and your "better half".
Before you jump in with both feet, consider your loved ones, your friends, and everyone in your address book.
The one single thing worse than getting married is getting divorced.

I got married (too) young and then divorced. 2 good kids came from it. My daughter married a meth head. Then a nasty divorce. 3 good kids came from it.

I wish there was some words of wisdom that make sense of it all. There isn't.

Keep focused on the kids and resist the urge to kill someone when that seems the best course of action.

Hang in there. This will test you in ways you never imagined possible. BTDT.

Worst thing that ever happened to me was a bad marriage

Best thing that ever happened to me is a good marriage.

You play the game....you take your chances.

Maybe the bad marriage helped you appreciate the good marriage more?

At this current point in my life, I’ve tapped out. It was a never ending nightmare, and fucked me up pretty bad. Single now, and probably gonna stay that way from here on out.

Big d. No one wins. Hurts children the most. And the affects of it really depend on their age - older kids will pick sides. Younger ones just want love no matter what, and will get hurt by the parent that still is bitter trying to play games still.

I am very cautious with my ex is always seeking revenge, and I want no part in games.

Maybe....time (and the right peson and things change. My life got a LOT better when I quit having expectations. Then met someone that did not want to waste my time on. She didn't want any relationship either.

That last about 4 days and it was on.

17 years now, things could not be better. It happens. I was shocked.

    Never say never.

This is the part that nobody really considers. I remember in my own childhood, my mother attempted to poison my mind against my father for years, before and after the divorce. Strange, how some things backfire.

Really tore my family up at a young age. That played a huge role in who I am today and how I view my own marriage.

Hang in there, best wishes for everybody involved.

    Bad marriage doesn't help anything.

Nothing good comes from it. You move past it......eventually.

I moved from Columbus Ohio to San Francisco right after my first divorce. It was for the greater good, it was hard to feed the drama from that distance. Luckily there were no kids involved, except for my ex and myself. It also made separating our positions easy, you can only fit so much in a car.
*I became lactose intolerant during the divorce, apparently caused by stress.
