Ha! Agree. I added OEM racks to my Pro along with Predator steps (mainly for easy rack access for skiing/snowboarding trips with the kids)

I stood back and took a look at it after getting home from the install and thought "well, you've dadded this thing up now" with a grin on my face.

Definitely NOT "Bro". I think there should be a "Dad" character that describes mods that make a truck more practical AND less cool.

Haha! Yes sir! I love the look of them...Plus, I had a Yakima rack on my 2015 PreRunner before I traded it in and I used that rack weekly to haul 16 ft sticks of timber. Really came in handy:thumbsup:

Were you a sales person or a manager or what? I am not sure this is accurate. It may be, but the owner of the dealership disagrees with you. You can in fact order one, then you get the VIN, and then you wait for your specific truck that you ordered and had built to be delivered.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
That is exactly what happened for me, -- I told the dealer EXACTLY how I wanted the truck -- They looked for one on the "to be built list" and checked out inventory around the country -- there was not a single one. Dealer put in the request and 7-8 weeks later it arrived -- just as ordered. BTW it was a blue SR5 AC 4x4 AT with the only option being Tow pkg.

No such thing. You get the packages/options that Toyota makes available, and that's it.

Some dealers call it "ordering", but in the Toyota system it's an allocation request just like Jaque8 described. If you request a rarer build, it'll take longer for that to come up in the schedule. If you request a combination/option/package that doesn't exist (i.e., a AC TRD OR with manual transmission), it won't ever come up in the build schedule, and you'll never receive it.

I've been both and specifically I've also been an inventory manager where my job is to literally request inventory for the dealership. See if that owner can "order" you a TRD Offroad WITHOUT a tow pkg, its literally an option so you SHOULD be able to forgo that option if you can in fact order... but you can't, because Toyota doesn't do orders.... I think at this point its just being pedantic, when he says "order" he really means "request" but he's using the words synonymously, but there is in fact a difference.

With Subaru for example I could actually ORDER a car with whatever option combo that is possible, I'll receive an order # and I'll know specifically what allocation it will be included on, if there's not that particular vehicle already being built then Subaru will build it for me anyways.

With Toyota they'll only ASSIGN a car that is already in their production pipeline as they build them... which is why if you order a V6 you MUST also get the options THEY decide to build it with, i.e. tow package. If you want a moonroof you HAVE to get the tech pkg, because that's how THEY decide to build it. If you want a really tricky build like a quicksand offroad 6spd manual there's NO GUARANTEE they'll fulfill it, there's plenty of stories of people even on here that couldn't get "orders" fulfilled on 6psd manuals... if Toyota did ordering than everyone would be able to get what they want they'd just have to wait 6-8 weeks... but of course that's not the case, there's dozens of examples of people TRYING and failing then switching options or colors to be able to at least get close to what they wanted.

Ask the owner what tab on dealer daily he clicks to "order" a truck.... its literally called "preference request"

Hope I don't come off as abrasive just trying to relay how to works so people don't blame the dealership when they can't custom order a truck because they read they could on the forums :)

TRD PRO does not come with a sunroof, that doesn't mean one wasn't added. If installed correctly, you shouldn't have any issues, with that being said, you are not able to see the vehicle, and look carefully how it seats on the roof. Good luck with it, hope you have no issues.

Love to see the new blue TRD PRO color, I assume you don't have it yet.

Cement is only offered on the PRO for 2017. Although I hear, that it will now be a color available on 2018.

Yes, it's been stated a few times, cement is now a standard color, not just pro any more.

Dealership is still Trying to convince me to buy so waiting to hear from them as to who installed it and what's the warranty. Either way I told them most likely I want out (they seem amicable to me pulling out but let's see)...

    It’s too bad.

You should search here and see how’s many complain they can’t get a Pro with a sunroof and instead buy a lesser trim to build instead.

I bet you could’ve posted it on here with it in your driveway and all the girls would be jealous. Post it before and they’ll tell you to steer clear.

You know what's funny. You make a lot of sarcastically witty and merciless comments but can't really hate you for it Bc it's reality. You keep it real. Bc I have been struggling with the purchase, I have since read a bunch of threads (not only from Toyota but other car manufacturers) regarding aftermarket sunroofs and whenever photos are posted, people seem to drool over them.

At end of day, it's definitely a first world problem. Still continue to thank this community for its input.

    Gotta keep it real.

I wouldn’t hesitate to pick it up, and can guarantee you people will pay you on the resale side. Lots of people complain it isn’t an option with the Pro. You have one.

You’d have a line of buyers at your door especially in SoCal.

My only legitimate concern would be warranty on the installation. This is a dealer add on, and you’re buying out of state so I would assume the selling dealer is the only option for any install related issues - and taking the truck there isn’t a practical option.

It wouldn’t be a Toyota covered issue since it isn’t factory.

The sunroof itself will have a manufacturers warranty so I’d want their info for future reference. It’s probably Wabasto.

Actually No! Quoting from an above post-- "as if Toyota did ordering than everyone would be able to get what they want they'd just have to wait 6-8 weeks... but of course that's not the case, there's dozens of examples of people TRYING and failing then switching options or colors to be able to at least get close to what they wanted.' I would bet you a large sum that the majority of the public WILL NOT and would not wait 6-8 weeks for their vehicle! This is the "gotta have it right now" trend that is dominant in this country. Maybe that's what you are saying in your post -- if so I agree with you. Toyota has built their marketing plan around the impatience of the public state of mind
