I miss my 80 4x4. It was white with the 20r 4spd manual with 5.29 gears. It had a factory sunroof. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of it.

Rob Smith of Odd Iron Offroad most likely will be able to help you source all the parts to do a proper turbo for it. He's really good with imported Toyota Diesels. He's getting my HZJ77 soon-ish to do the turbo and intercooler on its 1HZ 4.2 diesel engine. Tell him that I sent you if you like.

Thanks I’ll save his info for when I do. I price everything out with different vendors here then in Uk, Japan, and Australia. Usually it ends up better buying abroad and importing. Im in the northeast so most of the local guys are in other parts of the country.

It seems that most of the imported Toyota specialist on the east coast are in Georgia. I have a parts guy that finds oddball stuff for me and he’s in Georgia too.

Ok, TW peeps, I need a little help with my 1990 pickup. I have developed a water leak on the passenger side, seems to run down the inner cab seam, behind the ecu, down into the floorboard under the carpet. It poured all night, and there is a steady trickle down the seam. I tried to reproduce with water being poured into the cowl and windshield, but no water trickle, so it seems tons of rain is the culprit. I tried to remove the cowl.....but apparently I’m a dope and can’t do it. Removing the cowl screws was no problem, I just can’t seem to remove the end pushpin things! I’m very much not a wrench turner, but I’m trying to learn.
So.....if anybody can help me track this leak, I would be very grateful! Also, any pics or videos that would help me, please post up!

My guess is the drain under the cowl is blocked by leaves/debris or it's rusted out and has holes causing the leak. You will have to pull that cowl and maybe the fender to see whats going on in there.

I love the old school Toyotas. Their so hard to find anymore, most of the ones you do find are beat to hell and rusted up.:annoyed:

That’s what I suspect, you got any tips on removing that cowl? The screws I got, but the pushpins I can’t budge!

This truck is nearly pristine, no dents or scratches, interior is perfect, no rust! Want to keep it that way!

Flathead screwdriver? That's how I pop mine out, given they break most the time but I just replace them.

I tried.....wouldn’t budge....trying not to break them either. I’m not very handy with tools, but I’m trying to learn, lol.

When you do get it off I would glue some window screen material under the cowl vents to minimize the debris.

Oh, great idea! I’ll do that for sure. I will try again to remove the cowl tomorrow, thanks for the tips.

Thanks. Really excited to get wrenching on it. It's an 85 base model with a 22R 5 speed.

I found a 1988 reg cab 4wd 22re, 232,000 miles. I’m thinking about buying this truck, but I need advice on a few things before I drive two hours to look at it. Can you tell the model type it is, anything at all just let me know.

Also :notsure:...how much is it worth - bottom to top dollar? Let’s say it drives & 4wd functions ok. The description says everything works, including a/c.

    Thanks for any info :burnrubber:
