could be that dealer daily hasn't been updated with the correct model codes changes yet... or someone deleted 7513 code instead of 7164. they just came across the first entry that match the wording and not by model code. I would hate to be the person that has to load all that info back into dealer daily to rebuild 7513. hope they have a roll back option :)

Do you really think it's more likely that this is a typo or mistake or that they stopped making this config for 2018?

I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued it, they were barely making any of them as it was, compared to other configurations. To be honest I was a little suprised that I even could build this on the website. I thought I'd have to settle for an automatic double cab if I ever wanted a new Tacoma. But I do feel like if they built more of them and put them on the lots, they would sell.

It looks like the Camry is the only vehicle to get entune 3.0.

Why would Toyota bring out Entune 3.0. Advertise how good it is and offer it on only 1 model?

As of today Toyota still has not released pricing on the '18 Tacoma. Stop feeding the troll.

Bums me out too. Makes me consider waiting until next year also. Maybe keep the '99 a bit longer.. Although, we know very little about the 18's at this point. Lots of people talking with almost no facts to back up the talk. The wait continues.

Maybe that will be in the refresh on the T4R???

Honestly I think it's all a bean counter game...

So by 2019 you may see neat design improvements in the 4runner and such... BUT the big question is what's the new engine going to be if any? I am in love with the 4.0 and am not afraid to say it.

I drive a 2.7 2015 Taco and have a 4.7L Land Cruiser too, I want to get a 2014-2015 Tacoma DCSB but there are neat things I like about the 3rd Gens... The tail gate, the sound deadening, possibly power rear window coming to the SR? probably not...

    Argh!!!

Probably the 4Runner is overdue for a new model.

Yup, and I heard for 2018 it's not even getting any TSS stuff, honestly that's fine with me but the radar cruise would be neat just by itself though.

I think it's the last year of the 4Runner so they didn't want to spend too much on it for 1 model year. They had to redo the electrical system in the Tundra in order to get the TSS.

    That makes sense,

Man I would almost trade my Taco and my LC to have a new T4R, but the LC is paid for and the Taco payments are low and I only owe on it three more years.

I wish Toyota would update their Trucks every 5 years like they do with their cars. 10 years was too long for the 2nd gen. The sequoia is finally getting a couple minor changes 10 years after it came out.

When you say placed an order, was the truck already made and your dealer put in an allocation preference? Or does the dealer have a way to custom-order the configuration you want?

One dealer only presented the option of an allocation, but I sure would have liked it if he could custom-order it. Another dealer said he could "order" what I wanted, but when I pressed him about it, he said that no, he could only request the configuration I wanted.

Is a deposit typical for an allocation? I figured it was par for the course for a custom vehicle.

I know you weren’t asking me but this gets asked often and I think I can offer you a simple answer.

When someone says they “ordered” a truck from Toyota, unless they’re a fleet customer, they did not get a custom order. They simply got their dealer to ask Toyota for the ability to pick one off the list of trucks already in line to be made (allocation request). These trucks are predetermined to come with things like the premium and tech package, auto or manual transmission, paint color and the like. Where more “custom” options come into play are port-installed or dealer-installed options like the factory tonneau cover, roof rack, floor mats, power tailgate lock, etc. Those are installed after the truck leaves the plant and reaches its distribution point for your region.

Folks seem to confuse the ability to pick and choose port/dealer installed options with a true custom ordering process. The higher volume dealers will have more allocation leeway than lower volume ones. Hypothetically they could have access to the same trucks, there could just be a longer wait depending on what’s in the pipeline and what that dealer has already asked for. That said the issue seems to be more of a semantic one than anything else.

A *refundable* deposit is typical and from what I’ve seen here ranges from $500 to $1000 depending on the dealer.

    OA

Edit: I know this is a wall of text but it’s also an over simplification. There’s more going on than just this but it’s the gist of it.

Unless I read your post incorrectly, I’m going to politely disagree.

When I went into the dealer to order my 2018, I had complete reigns over what truck I wanted right down to the color, options, packages and accessories. The Sales Manager told me that they would put this through as a “sold order” to Toyota and wait for the truck to be allocated to them. After about two weeks they received the VIN and estimated build date for the truck.

How is this any different than the way the Big Three handle orders? From my understanding Toyota waits and build “lots” of trucks based on their configuration on a daily basis. For example, Tuesday AM might be at TRD Sport Manuals Short Boxes. Now this could be wrong, and if so, please correct me since I’m only going off of what the dealer told me.
