Someone started a "Low mileage 1st gen" thread, so I figured I'd start one for the 2nd gen owners...

To be honest, my mileage is actually about average for it's year. I have a 2010 regular cab 2.7L/auto 2WD (5-lug). It was manufactured in August 2009 and my dad bought it new in September 2009. Last December, my dad gifted the truck to me and put the title in my name.

I only had my learner's permit when we bought the truck and I didn't get my license until May 2011. My parents both had their vehicles, so the Tacoma was not driven much and we only managed to put about 7,500 miles on it in the first year we owned it.

By October 2013, my truck only had about 31,000 miles on it. It was not until I got a steady job in December 2014 that the mileage started to steadily climb. In about July of 2015, I hit 50,000 miles. By December 2016, my truck had almost 70,000 miles (Just under 69K to be exact). Now, less than a year later, I'm about to hit 78K.

Odometer reading as of October 24th, 2017:

    IMG_0577.jpg

The lowest-mileage 2nd gen I've ever seen was a 2008 RC 5-lug with 20K miles, owned by my aunt and uncle's neighbor out in California; The truck was purchased in October 2017, so that means it was driven only 20K miles in almost a decade!

I also talked to the owner of a 2005 regular cab 2WD 5-lug at the Raceway Park swap meet in April 2015, and his truck had just 55K miles on it.

The highest-mileage 2nd gen I've seen (at least a 2.7L 5-lug) was a 2005-2008 regular cab used as a seafood delivery truck by a company in New Jersey. This was in 2013 or 2014, and it had about 300K miles on the clock. This Taco had a refrigerated cap/box thing on the back, and it was well-used, but it certainly did not look like it had 300K miles on it! I talked to the guy driving it, and he said it ran and drove great, and the A/C worked great.

My doctor recently purchased a 2007 access cab TRD 4x4 (4.0L/auto) with 70K original miles. This truck had the frame replaced prior to my doctor buying it used.

So, who else has a low-mileage (or relatively low-mileage) 2nd Gen?

My 2015 only has 18,200 miles on it. That's mainly because I have been on two deployments since I bought it.

After being involved in two accidents in 2015 that WERE NOT my fault, I was a bit paranoid about something happening to my truck, and one thing I worried about was it would end up getting totaled and I wouldn't be able to find a suitable replacement (suitable meaning lower-mileage and well-maintained). After reading some of these posts, I am not so worried about finding a decent 2nd gen in the unlikely event that my truck does get totaled...

March 22nd, 2015 (Rear-ended by texting driver at traffic light; $1,200):

The damage was not bad at all, and the only reason it cost so much was because the adjuster from the texting driver's insurance company approved the entire bumper getting replaced...

October 28th, 2015 (Hit by drunk driver while making a left turn; $2,200):

:mad:Yes, that was my new futhermucking bumper that was paid for by someone else's insurance company just 5 months prior to the drunk guy hitting me!

This guy's dad's truck had the equivalent of less than 4,200 miles on it when it spun out on black ice and hit a pole. Truck is a 2005-2008 model, but don't know how old the pictures actually are...
