That's cause they figure you have money to waste if you can afford the gas for it.

Go for it. I drive a 07 dcsb 4x4 120miles per day and it's great. 20mpg average and has been very reliable. Sure it isn't the most frugal choice but I need a truck regardless and a second vehicle just doesn't make sense.

I've looked at replacing it with a 3rd gen but it felt essentially the same as my 2nd gen and would of cost me 20k plus my trade to move up. I'll wait until the 4th gen

    I get 14-16 mpg in my tundra. Got 14-18 in my 4.0 tacoma. If I had the 3.5....well I wouldn't. It's the reason I got the 5.7.

My gen 1 Taliban special gets 21mpg

    My gen 3 gets 19.5

Never owned an ugly gen 2

I would love it if gas was $10/gallon here
All the poor people would be home
And we could rule the roads

If my tundra got 10 mpg...the extras, comfort, power, size, amenities, price, and panty dropper factor would still make it worth it. But it doesn't get much worse mileage at all.

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4

I drove my 2002 gen 1 over 200 miles per day, 5 days a week, and 40 of it was on mountain dirt roads. I hope my Gen 3 can handle that type of abuse! Luckily, and sadly, that 2-year project is done and I only drive off-road on my own time anymore :( Total mileage before I sold the Gen 1 was 270k without any major problems. It was still clean, rattled a bit, but otherwise a great truck still. It just didn’t have enough power to pull our RV trailer in the mountains. I sure hope the Gen 3 does as well, the experiment is on!

All it would take is one trip on a secondary highway.

Once you figured out how little time and effort it takes for a 5.7 to pass a car on a 2 lane road, you would be sold.

Yes, the Tundra is that fast.

In his defence he does refer a 1st gen as a Taliban special.

    Equal opportunity offender.

    No demerits awarded.

Tundras are awesome. I do miss the 5.7 with the 4.30 gears.

Even better when you get into a pre 2010. The later models had a stupid, dumbed down gas pedal.
