That looks like a good tire. I know Yokohama has a new one out that is a GREAT tire but it's only available in an E rated tire.

Just wondering. How is the road noise on these? I have always had M/Ts on all of my vehicles and I have grown tired of listening to the droning. These look like they might be loud themselves.

Has anyone tried out the NITTO Ridge Grapplers yet? I am thinking they may be just about perfect for my needs but just wondering if anyone has any horror stories before I pull the trigger

OP, have you ever reached a consensus on this? Digging through 16 pages is quite a struggle.
It would benefit everyone in this forum, if you could compile a table with all the results you've got for 16", 17" and 18" Load C.
I'm looking for a bad ass 17" Load C. Any width.

Over in the wheels/ tires subforum there's a thread all about the ridge grapplers, seems like quite a few positive experiences.

Grabber x3's come in 17" load C iirc. They are fairly new to the market so not too many long term reviews about them unfortunately. Fwiw expedition overland on YouTube is running them, but they are also sponsored by general tire so take that how you will.

I can try if I could just get time to do it! :). I think one of the biggest issues in doing this is that everyone’s needs seem to differ. The Duratracs are really good, especially in C load range but they have softer sidewalls. Another issue is weight. I like a lighter tire whereas others don’t seem to care as much about that. I have found that has been the most helpful website because the weight of the tire is readily accessible. Also, if you want a really aggressive tire I have found the Dick Cepek Extreme Country to be a highly rated tire. It is a mud tire but more of a lighter mud tire. It is also an E rated tire but it has a sidewall design that saves weight so it weighs more like a C rated tire and rides smoother than many E rated tires.

Sounds like you and I have the same reasons. Want a bad ass looking tire, but want light weight, and softer walls. and want to fit w/o rub. :).
Our trucks engines are weak enough, I don't want to add more weight, even if it is un-sprung weight.
What I was saying was, let's compile a list of Load C rated Tires ONLY.
Those who want E, could do that homework on their own.
For instance, the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T Tires are Load C, light weight, comes in size 285, 17" and is an aggressive looking one. It's perfect for me, but prohibitively expensive. So I'm looking for others.

NITTO just released a ridge grappler in load range C. I just got the E and I'm extremely pleased with them. I could only imagine the C would be even better.

Yeah we are in the same boat. I will try to see what I can come up with or at least share the fruits of my search. I like the hybrid tires like the Ridge Grapplers but because they are newer tires they want to recoup their money via sky high prices right off the bat. I also like the General X3 but have heard mixed reviews. I’m just not saddling this truck with heavy tires so weight for me is important.

At almost $300/ tire, it's hard to reason the cost of those things. That said, I just recently passed up an offer for 4 lightly used Trail Grapplers for $600 bucks because I just didn't have the money at the time. Somebody from TW is selling, and I even got to see the tires in person. He upgraded to Ridge grapplers, and was selling off his previous tires.

They're 251/each for 285/70/17s. I was able to get mine much cheaper than that though.
