    Didn't read all the comments...:anonymous:

I drive for a living. 120 mile days and then some. I have a Off Road and manual 6-Speed. I average around 19-20 MPG and that is doing a fair amount of 70-80 mph driving on the highway. No issues - the truck is taking the miles like a champ. I used up my complimentary Toyota Care in 6 months...

The truck is fine on the highway and the Off-Road handles expansion joints and potholes really well. Merging speed is a little slower due to body roll, but if you don't have an passengers just hang on and she will stick.

We have wifey's Mazda 3 for those longer trips, Taco stays parked for those longer trips. But to be honest, prefer the Taco for seeing over traffic, so we mostly use the Taco for shorter drives.

I’ve been averaging over 1,000 miles a week in my Tacoma since i picked up my 2017 in April. It’s been a great truck but I much prefer the manual over the 16 auto I had (50k miles when i traded it off). Both were double cab short bed TRD OFF ROAD.

For the number of miles I’ve done, I think it’d be hard to get me to drive anything else. There are many days I’m doing 500 miles and I’ve got no complaints. The biggest day I’ve had so far was around 800 miles and I could have kept going if I wanted.

I drive a lot too, but looks like you have me beat. I do about 2000-2500 miles per month. How do you feel about the range on the Taco? Probably my only complaint and a minor one at that. I can easily do 400 miles in my Accord, but I am usually looking for gas around 300-350 miles in the Taco. I don't like to hit the fuel light in any vehicle I drive.

I put on 60 round trip per day highway and 30 city on weekends. I average 19.5 with a medium foot and avg 78mph on my commute.

    I have a v6 auto.

Considered keeping my car and buying older truck. In the end the cost of both with insurance, etc ...i decided to find a good used taco and drive it into the ground.

100+ miles per day = fuel efficient car. Unless your SO is driving further and you need a truck....go with a 40+ mpg car

Honestly haven't spent much time behind the wheel of a 4.6. The ones I did pilot, belonging to friends, lacked the same low end grunt as the 5.7. Gas mileage ain't great with either, but my take on any full size truck is if you are buying it hoping to get Prius type numbers, then buy something smaller, or get a damn Prius. I didn't ditch mine for the mileage, just no longer needed a full size for my daily needs. I have a built 2006 Ram 3500 if I need to pull heavy stuff.

Interesting statement, own both, for different reasons. I don't use the 911 to haul mulch, I don't use the Taco on the track or pure driving enjoyment, even though it's the sport model.

But like you I'm old man, guess not quite as Grumpy ;)

I haven't driven a 4.6 in a while but remember it being plenty powerful and it got decent mileage, similar to my 2nd gen taco.
The 5.7 is a different beast all together and only sacrifices about 1 mpg. The power and torque of the 5.7 will have you smiling the whole drive. Especially if you engage "tow/haul mode" which changes shift points and turns it into a 5000 lb rocket.

Im usually somewhere around 350-400. I’m averaging a little over 20 mpg. Depending on where I’m going I may keep an extra 5 or 10 gallons in the bed if im somewhere like New Mexico where gas is more sparse. Having a little bit larger tank would be nice but it’s never really been an issue on my 2017 as its been fairly consistent around 20+ mpg.

My 2016 was wildly inconsistent, some days I’d get 13-14 mpg and others I’d get 20. Made it very hard to know when you’d need to get fuel again.

It would be nice to see a range closer to 500 miles on a tank though, adding an extra few gallons.

I am averaging over 20mpg with pretty heavy city driving. I drive over 100 miles per day, on most days. I am in sales and I decided that if I am going to spend this much time in a vehicle, I am driving something that I want to be in. I have tried several Subarus and I liked them, but there is no substitute for a truck.
