I have bought a brand new Subaru BRZ then traded for my 17 Tacoma and it is weird for me seeing how bad other dealerships operate. I have had bad experiences at both Subaru and Toyota. At the Mercedes dealer I work for we don’t ask questions, if it’s warranty we fix it or order the part and the customer gets a very nice brand new loaner if needed. I go to toyota and no one wants to help me, I get told repairs need to be approved by corporate which takes forever, then I get the nastiest used 50,xxx mile Prius as a loaner that looked and smelled like dogs were once living in.

Little tree air fresheners. Clazzio black leather seat covers.
Toyota's pretty good at trying to screw people. I've never felt great about getting anything done to my truck at the stealership. Happier then hell to put you in a new rig and take your money. But once you're there for your "free" service they treat you less then fair.

When I bought my 1st gen I looked at a CPO on dealer lot, Looked decent, Pulled the Dip Stick, oil, black as crude, popped the Air Filter, Never been changed since new @ 24K miles. Salesman comes back and I ask him ,So this is a CPO vehicle? Oh yes, we go over it with fine tooth comb, I pull dipstick and show him oil, pop the Air filter and show him it's never been changed, Guy has the nerve to start yelling at me about pulling apart his truck, I said I wouldn't buy truck from a liar, much less than this Stealership in Fairfield Ohio. I left the hood up and walked away. Next Day, I called Toyota regional service manager and told him about dealer advertising and charging for CPO on Taco w VIN #. RM sent inspector out and found same thing I did. He sent me 100 gift card to local steak house and to let him know if I found something at another dealer he would try to help me out. Bought a non CPO at another dealer and he sent me a couple of coupons for 2 free oil changes.

Same experience here, my wife loves taking her ML to dealer, treated her like a queen, gave same car as she drove in. Local Porsche dealer does the same, even will let you try something else if it is in demo rotation (had a Cayenne Turbo for week, though I hated paying for gas, 7-8 mpg). My daughter has good service at Lexus dealer though she still gets a little of "they all do that crap" . That's when I take it back. Now the dealership has a female service writer .

The CPO is a bunch of crap. Toyota in my town had a 2015 on the lot with two cracked tail lights and other problems like you mentioned. When I pointed these things out the salesman said, "oh yeah, we'll fix those problems if you buy it." I asked shouldn't it have already been done if it was inspected. He grunted and walked away.
