I'm hearing some smack talk from UF and our guys from what I've heard aren't paying it any attention, just focused on the game and practice which sounds good.

I am hoping to have some guys back from injury that could return, the last I read anyway. Particularly Trenton Thomson and glad Bellamy has the club off his hand so hoping our pass rush will get back to where they were.

Yep. “They’re the #3 team in the nation. But they can’t beat Florida.”

And “anyone can throw a slant.”

Fuck Florida. Only good thing to come out of that state is Sony Michel.

Damn why the hell does the Cocktail Party have to be around Halloween weekend? Every year I go through the same thing. Particularly the week of the UGA/UF game though. Wife just mentioned a trunk or treat she wants "us" to take my 5 yr old to. Then when she gets the news that the big game she throws the "oh football is more important than spending time with your son" thing. I spend imo more time with him than most fathers and think I'm more involved in his life than most fathers. Is it that bad that for 12-15 Saturdays out of a year I want to watch football? Even at that, a lot of other games wouldn't be so bad but this is one of the biggest of the year every year. Besides that I already took him to a trunk or treat Sunday evening that our church put on. We just had our daughter and not wanting to get her out into public too much yet so she stayed home.

So now I'm in a predicament with the new baby. Before her I would've just let them go and heard the mouthing about it. Now I don't want her trying to keep up with a 5 yr old and a newborn. And all this while having the best season in who knows how long. What to do? :goingcrazy:

As a father with grown children all I can say is they grow up really fast. There will always be college football but your kids won't be little forever.

Yep. Record the game. It's just a damn game and to put it ahead of your kids, is well, shitty.

I've done this and on so many occasions someone makes a comment as to let me know what happens before I get to watch. If I can watch without anyone telling me anything it's fine. Just so hard to pull that off.

And it's not like I don't do anything with my kids, ask my coworkers and they'll tell you how I do too much in their opinion. But you also have to understand my wife, she wants to take my son to every event that pops up. I know how this goes. He will go trick or treating probably 5 different times by Halloween night. So I don't feel like missing one is that bad. When I was a kid we got the one night and that was it.

Oh I know. I do the same. I tell no one to contact me and I don't open media. lol

I'll just shut outside contact down and watch it at night. But there are times when my brother wants to be a pain in the ass and tell me shit. Kids always come first, though. Where are you located?

    Flowery Branch

I guess I bring some of it on myself. I'm always wearing UGA gear. Last year I did this with the Vandy game which of course turned out to be....... well you know. But we went to a fall festival that I thought hell I most likely wont see anyone I know so no big deal. But of course some random guy walked past us and saw my hat and said oh though one for the Dawgs today. So once I knew we had lost I was in kinda a pissy mood plus being iriatated that someone said something. My wife tried to let him know but the damage was done. And on the flip side to that I've been at a daycare event for my son and someone had their car radio blaring the game. I tried to block it out then they were yelling when we were scoring. I don't remember which game that was but just distracted me making me want to go see/hear the action.

But as for the UF game the trunk or treat is like 7pm meaning we'd probably have to leave just after halftime so hopefully we'll have the game in hand by then. :fingerscrossed:

    Just outside Savannah in Rincon.

My brother is coming over for the game. But I'm divorced with two little ones who most likely will get rambunctious. Ugh. I always wear UGA stuff now. Always. lol. So I get your pain.

You dont watch football with him? My son would be pissed if my wife wanted to do something besides watch football on a Saturday. He is 5 as well, we enjoy watching it together.

He's not into it yet but he doesn't sit long enough to watch a lot of anything anyway. I've tried to influence him and he laughs and takes notice when I get excited over a big play. But when I'm watching he's usually playing with his toys.

On the game vs. family conversation... I have a 5yo and a 3yo, and I had to accept long ago that there will be games (even big ones) that I'll miss for one kid-related event or another. Luckily it hasn't been too many.

It's nearly impossible to completely shut out the outside world, so I've actually stopped even trying. I keep up w/ Alabama games if/when I'm away from a TV. Depending on where I am, that means either a) getting score updates from my phone (via the ESPN app) or b) actually keeping up w/ the game cast. (I don't watch live away from WiFi b/c I'm cheap and don't pay for enough data.)

If the game sucks and we lose, I don't have to waste 3-4 hours watching it later. If we win, I can relax and enjoy it. It's not for everybody, but it's worked for me.
