good to know. still would be $1800 after discount. i assume the quality is there. i could get a yakima for half of that.

its good to have options though and I will keep it in mind

I’ve been hearing the price point thing a ton on this forum. I think I’m starting to get it. But it’s hard for me to justify not getting the best gear out there.

trust me. i am on the same page, and I usually buy middle to top tier equopment as I have had the cheap stuff fail on me too much.

going into winter will give me plenty of time to see reviews on Yakima while also considering other brands, saving cash etc.

    .

Yakima Bedrock system - new full retail $300. Less used on C'list if you wait (seen $100). Holds RTT, bicycles, cargo boxes, ....... multi useful.
    RTT - used on C'list $400.
Never waking up to shoes floating on tent floor. Never fighting the wind to put up a tent by yourself on the beach.
I'm far too NYC to ever leave my tent set up & drive off to run trails - fold tent, slide ladder, shove chair/stove under tent & hit trails. Peace of mind & comfy mattress for less than 10 nights in a hotel.
Hey, if the bear is going to eat me, or a psycho killer slit my throat in the night - make them work at it! (Well I did say I was NYC - LOL.)

So I installed mine. 3 ft firestick and at first I didn’t have a spring because I forgot to order one. I didn’t have any issues with the mount rubbing on the tailgate but I installed a spring anyway as I’m going to be in overgrown areas and I didn’t want my antenna snapping. Tuned it just fine and everything works as it should. I don’t know if you did or not but I mounted the mount behind the black sheet metal in the bed. Figured it’d make it more rigid

Woah! I'm far to ECN (Elko County Nevada) to even understand that post. Leave tents and camping gear for a week or better and never worry about Someone messing with it. Plus, everyone hear has a firearm (or two). Keeps the psycos honest....

BTW, RTTs are awesome, have had one since 2008. Mine is a Camping Lab they are out of business but many are made from the same manufacturer.

My advice for a new one vs. the Yakima is CVT. They make a great product and I think the added windows at the top, make for a better experience. My only beef is when mine is all closed up, you wish you could stare at the stars. Also, I am not a fan of the red color used in the Yakima. I have had a red tent and only used it once, I found the color to be stressful.

    Hope this helps.

I have a smittybilt overlander RTT that I paid $800 for and have spent over 30 nights in it. I love it. It is durable, stays dry, and comfortable.
