I hate to hear that you got water inside the tent. I looked at my tent and I have the same pin holes. Weird. I can't think what would cause that. Maybe stress in the material from flapping in the wind?

If I understand it correctly you’re mounting your tent to the top of the cab? If that’s the case then buy some bed bars or a bedrack and then it’ll be shorter than if you keep it on the cab. Of course I’m assuming you don’t have a canopy on the bed. I had a similar problem where my tent was mounted on top of my canopy and I couldn’t fit in the garage. I bought an RCI bedrack and got rid of the canopy and now my truck goes in the garage and the tent stays on.

Is there any way you can recess the winch and mount into the attic to allow the tent to be raised higher? My buddy did it to his. He just put all of the framing and winch in the attic with some PVC tubs to allow the cable/chain to come down to the tent. he gained about 2.5ft

No idea what caused it. First real rain it was in the water would run down the skylight zipper and enter at the bottom corner of it.

Getting rid of the cap is not an option as I use/need it for work. I think I'm just going to have to have the hoist built.

I got the impression the problem was with his garage door opening not being tall enough.
