    getting ready to trade in my 2005 for a 2017 - will my old cap fit the new truck? Bed dimensions the same?

    i saw a 3rd gen cement TRD pro with a white 2nd gen cap on it on the 101 freeway in LA the other day..

    I thought the dimensions were similar enough that it would work as you say but the fit isn't super clean. For one thing the new bed doesn't have that odd dip where the front panel is lower than the rails.

    None as of yet
    2nd gen cap will sit proud of the rear of a 3rd gen Cab, however With a roof rack etc it wouldnt be as noticable. Also, the tailgate area is different, and when mounting a 2nd gen cap on a 3rd gen Taco the fitment on the tailgate leaves alot to be desired.

    Will it sit on the bed? For sure. Will it fit? Not by any definition of "fit," outside of Sanford & Son.
