installed some camburg spindles end of january. i am getting a popping sound in my steering when close to full lock. ball joints move freely at the tie rod ends, already checked that?

any suggestions or have any personal experience. like i said, it only happens at nearly full lock, like when turning into or backing out of a parking spot.

Thats a good question. You align it after? How about the cv's how are they or you 2wd?

alignment was done right after lift, and this past weekend i got a redo (due to featherinig tires...but they actually increased my camber, therefore the featherinig will be worse:mad:...going to get it redone this weekend at a different shop in town.) alignment is withing spec, i have ~+2.4 castor, +0.6 camber, and +0.08 total toe.

The only other thing I could say is the wheel bearings. Thats a hard one. Hopefully the guys at the shop can look at it.

dont think its the wheel bearings, those spin nice and smooth (i did brakes last weekend as well) and only hear the noise when at near full lock.

Rack and pinions kinda suck. I know that much. Tie rods shouldnt really pop. Neither should ball joints. How are your struts? Im not too familiar with the tacoma 2wds.

I also suggest you get a friend to help you so while you're driving someone can walk outside the truck and listen for the pop. Thats a good way if the problem isnt visible.

do you have aftermarket uca, i know the uniball makes that noise also when its bad, but most likely its the steering rack, the bushings go out pretty often.

^ nope, just installed some OEM ones (only have 5100s set at 0.85") w/ less miles last weekend...but the sound was there before i did that install.

are there any poly bushings for the steering rack yet? you think the bushings would make an intermittent popping sound though?

^ good call on the re-torquing the LCA bolts...i was racking my brain and realized that these were the only ones i didnt retorque because my dad didnt have this sized socket!

had one of my customers torque them up for me...so far three days and no more popping!!

i hate when i make stupid mistakes on simple things!

    This is the solution.
Its not the bearings, rack and pinion, alignment, steering rod, etc... Make sure you use lock washers and loctite on the 2 bolts where the LCA connects to the lower spindle. Best solution would actually be a castle nut and pin on each of the bolts.
