I set the cruise at 65 and I’ll usually be 20-23 mpg. If I do 70-80, I’ll be more like 19 mpg. Crusing at 80-85 I got about 16-17. All this with my MT.

With the auto I had, if I stayed under 60, I could average 23. 65-70 I was around 18-19. Faster than that it fell off a cliff.

Most men say they get 25MPG in their trucks and have a 10inch penis...

Unless you live in a different elevation, have hills everywhere, or floor it everywhere you go, you shouldn't be getting 16 mpg ever. I can routinely get 20 if I get decently rough with the accelerator occasionally and 21-22 if I granny it. Some folks driving habits may seem normal and easy on the accelerator to them but in reality it isn't. A guy at work was complaining about his MPG in his Ford not getting what was advertised. He constantly accelerated hard but not to the point of it being to the floor. He thought that was normal driving when it wasn't. It doesn't mean spend 30 seconds getting to 60 mph to get the best MPG but don't get nuts with it either.

Thanks for the heads up. I have read about the trucks searching for gear on the highway, but I plan on a thorough test drive. Also read that the 16's searched worse than the 17's, as it looked like Toyota had fixed it. Most of the replies to this post have not had many complaints about the truck searching for gears. I know it depends on the highways where you drive, mine are mostly flat (live in New England).

My computer is usually off. I do manual MPG, and have the auto care app on my phone that records it each time.

I never thought I'd say this but if you are doing 120 miles per day, get the Sport with it's ugly chin spoiler. It helps MPG especially on the highway; I have heard 0.5 to 1 MPG and it seems to correlate to Toyota's website.

I personally run the TRD Skid Plate and get around 18 MPG with 265/75/16 tires. On the highway I get around 22/23 MPG and city brings me down to 17/18. I drive with ECT on everywhere and am not gentle on the truck.

My area is quite flat however with very little in the way of hills.

My only hope is that these 3rd Gen Tacos get better mileage as they get more worn in. Mine is a brand new MT, and if I go under 60mph on the highway (only possible if there is not too much traffic, because if so you will get run over going that slow), I can get about 16 MPG. As soon as I hit 65 it drops to about 14 MPG. Around town the other night I was purposely accelerating very slowly, keeping it under 2k RPM (middle of the night, nobody on the road), and my MPG ranged from 8 to 13.

I should add that I live at sea level, and commute on straight, flat highways.

    Loose nut behind the wheel.
Just going by the computer, I get 20-21 mpg easy. 18.5 when I drive like a teenager. Stock OR, no tonneau. Then again my daily is mostly 35-60 mph, hilly but not too much traffic. Is this really unbelievable? Penis size is average but I know how to use it.

guess you have your answers but here's my 0.02 anyway..

it's a terrific highway machine. i have set my truck up for the highway in the mod details and it's the nicest highway drive I've had in almost 40 years of driving. i often do over 120mi or day but 120/day is normal for me.

For what its worth, I was planning on driving 75-80 (the speed of traffic!) with it, which I expected would lower that MPG. Interesting that the tonneau doesn't provide an advantage, I figured it would reduce drag enough to make a small difference.

Ouch that is really low. I know automatic is more efficient but I didn't think it would be that much different.

I know my changes are small but I went with a low profile tonneau, all synthetic fluids in transmission, differentials, TC, etc.

    Pretty crazy.

but it DOES make a difference in the highway in terms of driveability especially in the wind. you'll get blown around less with it.

    Are they driving aggressively?

I was getting barely 20 mpgs on the Hwy when I babied the truck at 60mphs and now with a factory tonneau I'm getting 20 mpgs going 80mph. My co worker also got an increase in mileage as does everyone else I know who has a truck with a tonneau.
