Most just doing tweeters / speakers - if you have the entune HU on your OR it has good power coming out of it and you will be happy w/ the results.

Cool. I just got my truck so I'm not sure about entune. It does not have the tech package if that matters.

No, the regular Tech Pkg doesn't change the sound system unless it is the one with JBL.

I got all my stuff put in today. Sounds way better. I can listen to it all the way up and not have that busted ass speaker sound. They must of been saving wieght with the factory speakers. The tweeters are heavier then the dang 6x9's. It may have lost a little low end but not much. I have a small sub under the front seat. Great mod.

What sub did you get that can fit under the seat?

A little one. It's not street thumping bass but rounds the sound out.

Any details on install would be cool. I use the storage behind my seats so really If I added a sub I'd love something small and functional under the seat but sounds like most other low profiles won't fit under the small space we have under there. I assume this is a powered sub that you ran cables to the HU directly? I'm very happy with the performance of these speakers including the bass but I could see a sub perhaps rounding out some of the midrange bass as a winter project on a cold dreary day!

Edit: And I'd like to find one on sale if I did decide to tinker with this ;)

good job on this though, glad you're enjoying it!

Nice. Been looking for a powered subwoofer for the access cab. Interested in install details also. Thanks!

I have had this thing for about 6 months. I used a taco tunes line level harness to get the line outputs that the powered sub needed. I liked the harness because it just plugs in and I didn't have to tap any wires. . I followed their video on installing the harness. I'm on mobile so it's too hard to link it. I just hooked the taco tunes harness into the provided harness that comes with the sub. All the line input wiring in ran under the center console and the power and ground runs under the trim of the driver's door. I have an add a fuse inline with the accessory fuse for the remote to power it on. The ground is tied to a seat bolt. The power was the hardest. It runs through the firewall behind the brake booster to the battery. Taking the radio out was easy using the video. Installing the sub was actually easier then installing the speakers. The only hard part was the power wire and getting it through the firewall but that's normal on these vehicles. It probably took and hour or so. It's kind of quiet at first but it once it breaks in, it sounds pretty good. The sub I am using has a remote that comes with it. So you can make easy adjustments to the level and phase.

I did have to shorten the wiring from the powered sub and the taco tunes harness. They give you plenty to reach where ever you need to.

Hey OP, How's the bass response compared to stock? My son and I just received our Tweeters, front and rear speakers today and after hearing someone not liking the low end sound we hope that's not true because we we're ok with the stock setup but after reading about this simple mod we we're in. Not looking for pounding bass but just an improvement from stock. We both have the TRD 4x4 OR DCSB non JBL. We will install this weekend starting with his truck and compare both. My worry is that the tweeters and the the 6x9 3 way might be too much highs and not enough bass. Appreciate your info. Tks

The bass is great - I don't think you'll be disappointed. You will also find plenty of folks who can make their truck shake with the bass on these speakers, myself included. Sound is very full and definition is terrific. My bass is louder than it was on stock but is more well defined - bass hits don't distort all the trebles and mids. Sub I'd say is a "nice to have" if you like to thump more. I'm sure some folks who love heavy bass will always want a little more regardless but these 6x9s produce excellent bass w/o a sub.

EDIT: I also tend to keep my EQ with treble close to middle, mids a couple notches to the right, bass at near max and that balances everything out really well

Mine sound good even with the sub off. Way more clear bass for sure. Speakers sound even better once they get some wear on them to me.

Decided to stop by a car audio shop and told them about kickers and how I was looking for a budget improvement over stock. He was way against kickers haha. But all I kept thinking was he is just trying to get a sale out of me. Told me some $170 Kenwoods and $120 for the back plus $60 an hour for install. And 2 hours for sound deadening.

I think I'll just stick to the OPs setup haha. Tweets come in tomorrow!

Tks, I can do without a sub not looking for that thump just a nice balanced sound. I might try to install the tweeters tonight while at work during my lunch break if not too busy and doors this Saturday. Tks OP

Ok, just installed the tweeters in my and my sons truck and I like the upgrade. At first it was hard to tell but once you start flipping through songs it is evident that the tweeters are there where as before you could not tell there were any tweeters in the dash. I could live with just the tweeter upgrade because it sounds great for my taste of music but since we already got the door speakers I can't wait for the additional improvement. My wife has the JBL in her Camry and hers is not even close to ours. Good Buy$.02

Awesome! And always remember, the speakers come alive over Bluetooth from your smartphone. It sounds better for sure on XM and radio but audio Bluetooth will produce richer highs and lows and really shows off the speakers once you get them all installed!
