Ya my kids were talking about this morning, they remember one of the side streets by us, being with out power and it being spooky as they walked for trick or treating.

No change right now. My radio all of a sudden started saying pass on the diags but I still don’t think I’m transmitting. I tried on the pike a few times with peoples convos but no response. No real way to tell until tomorrow around others. I have the other uniden coming in today. I may just wire that one up because I know it’s new and shouldn’t have an issue at all

Looking forward to seeing what we can find tomorrow. I am baffled by it.

Next time you get the chance, jump on 19 and just say "Break one nine, radio check." If anyone can hear you, they should reply back and let you know.
Of course we'll see you tomorrow though so we can give it a look too.

I think I may have the same issue. I can pick up conversations really well but think I'm not transmitting too well.

I’ve tried the channel 19 radio check a few times and no response but there’s also the possibility that no one is picking me up. Best bet will just be tomorrow. I’ll probably be at the meet spot a little early just to mess with it a bit.

@dc welding do you have any kind of internal diag function? Is it showing that you are in fact transmitting? Or can you hear it keying up when you use the mic? Also one thing that I changed when mine wasn’t passing the diag at all that helped it say pass (but with weak signs) was turning the mic gain up

I do not. It's just a simple cobra cb. My nephew has the same one with the same antenna. I can hear him clear as a bell. He can barely hear me though. I think they just need to be tuned. (I hope). I was thinking just giving it a whirl when we all meet up.

Sounds like you've got a pinched coax. That's how mine was before I swapped to a mag mounted antenna. I could Rx but could barely get any tx. Swapped on my spare mag mount and it works great, actually better than my rear door mounted firestik. I'd try changing out the coax, and double checking you've got good ground if using a firestik

Actually using a mag mount. But, I have an extension coax running under the carpet and I'm thinking that could be the cause too. I keep the mag mount behind the seat and put it up when I'm using it. I was planning on trying to hook the antenna direct to the cb for the run tomorrow and see if it helps. Funny thing is that I receive really well.

I could receive no problem but not transmit. I'd hook the mag mount directly to the cab and see what happens. You'll at least rule in/ out the extension cable.
