well got a hold of different dealer and they have a 18 trd off road just like I want due in First week Dec. going to see them at 9am to get quote on my trade because I hadn't got one except from one from my same town that keeps telling me they wont even let him order. So if they match trade and also do $1800 off msrp then ill leave deposit and be good to go

Ha ha! I grew up with 60's, 70's vehicles....my old '76 F250 felt barbaric compared to the new stuff. New F250 feels like you're being cradled in a pillow soft bosom, while being caressed with a warm yogurt...

...we have become a bunch of soft handed nancy boys. :D

Guys, I know the sky is falling but...

Second page of the press release says 2.7 now comes with a 6 speed manual. Sounds like they had a good reason to kill the 5 speed.

They do. They realized they had made a massive mistake when this truck turned out to be a beast, and are now trying to neuter it.

Just going off this from the press release:

It's also present on the page right after that.

Seems like a pretty large oversight if it's a mistake.

Well shit. That's interesting. I wonder which press release is wrong?

Also, my apologies. Didn't mean to call you out like that.

I'd be willing to bet money that no manual option for the 2.7 is correct. A 6 speed would be a good option though. The rpm's are a touch high for cruising at 80mph in the 5 speed.

Check post #2 of this thread... 7593; SR 4x4 Double Cab 6MT.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Could be I4 or V6, I guess...

I think has to be the 2GR if that pricing is right. For 2016-17, the 2TR double cabs were 4x2 and priced below that MSRP. The 2GR double cabs were the 4x4 models, and had similar pricing to what is listed there.

That was my experience when I had one too. Still it had good low end off road. A 6 mt would be an improvement.

If you read the toyota press release from their own site, they have the 4cyl listed with a 6MT in a table, but then the gear ratios only show 5 gears even though the header says 6mt.

Well well well. Wouldnt that be wonderful if they upgrade to a 6mt vs. 5mt in the 2.7L... I guess we will see, soon....

So you guys are saying you cant lift the 18’s? Tss will malfunction? My 2017 is totaled and was waiting on the 2018. I still have my wheels and lift for the new tacoma but if i cant even install them.. i better get a 17? Only reason for the 2018 i wanted was because of the cement for the trd offroad
