When I was researching these trucks I had read somewhere that these trucks could come with 4.10s but it seems most are 3.73
That's why I went with my good ole 7.3l F350. Mine was pretty heavily built thoug

I've never hunted Mulies but would love to one day. You are only allotted one tag for the season?

Utah sucks for big game tags.....our only lottery.....the big game draw........

    they don't even draw the tags here...they do it Fallon NV....the Church...you know........L O T T E R Y........

the only game tag you can buy over the counter is spike elk.....all others are draw.......

general season buck deer tags....? you'll draw one every 2nd year...Premium deer units ?

    Henry Mtns...15 yr min year wait......Book Cliffs...7-8 maybe....Pausaugant ..9-10 yrs...Antelope Island..never

Lots of good tags to be had.....you better be 14 yrs old when you start applying......

Really so the sage brush made it no good? An old timer taught me a trick to get the a lot of the gamey taste out of your meat. Take the meat put it in a cooler tilted at an angle with the drain valve down. Then fill it with ice and let the cold water run through it for a day or so continually adding ice. It actually works pretty well. I've had people who don't like whitetail bc of the "gamey" taste actually eat it and enjoy it bc this method helped. Now "gamey" imo is personal opinion. My diet is all animals that have been raised on pasture and wild game. When I say pasture raised I mean less than 5% of their diet is any normal feeds and what is fed to them is all natural non gmo organic. So game to me is completely different than gamey to others.

Yes I do a similar thing with the whitetails I get. Typically put the meat on ice and change the melted water. It works.

Yes the muley was very strong.

Still a POS chevy..... @112k.... get ready for.... full trans rebuild (Typical and TSB's back this up), replacing the torque converter due to the lockup cluctch in the 4L80E cracking (TSB acknowledging this), replacing the case of the transfer case due to a design flaw that the oil pump rubs through the case (TSB acknowledging this), knock sensors (TSB acknowledging this), o2 sensors(TSB acknowledging this), full steering component replacing(TSB acknowledging this), front hubs, radiator(TSB acknowledging this)..... Oh and piston slap SO bad that it sounds like one dumped nuts and bolts down the intake(TSB acknowledging this). Also get ready for the rear main seal to start to leak oil like a siv right onto the hot exhaust.... you will be consuming about 1qt of oil per 1k miles due to losses here and general oil consumption.

Even chevy knows they make crap after the fact.

How do i know this.... i owned the exact same gen truck as that.... same cab and bed config, same color even. Fucking thing didnt make SHIT for power till you revved the fuck out of it, Made peak HP right before valve float around 5200-5600 rpms but not a whole lot below that..... torque was eh. Gearing was lame.... even with 4.10's in it, 1st gear got you to 55 mph.... w t f. I even had a full tune on the thing, not some lame chip and it still wasnt nearly as quick as a stock tacoma.

You can have that truck..... I havnt missed it at all since its been gone, not. one. bit. The ONLY thing it had going for it was the fact it did make more power overall, and because it was bigger was better suited for towing... but that was about it.

    /chevy rant

Minus the hubs (tacomas have the same issue) this sounds like an LS eng not the D-max. D-max in this vintage had issues with their fuel system and the inj. dumping a tank of diesel into the crankcase, as well as other issues. Plus the 4l80 from my recollection never came in the d-max trucks it has been allison since day 1. Now that doesn't mean allison didn't have their issues I've rebuilt a few in my day especially the early ones. HTe early d-max also had head issues with warping etc until chevy was able to fix the castings to hold up to the combustion pressures. I can go on but then again as a tech I can about most every vehicle. Whenever someone asks me what I think they should buy I tell them whatever they want all vehicles suck and have their failure modes. Yes some are better than others but at the end of the day you have to be happy with what you got and enjoy it.
