So we went with the 17X7 4Runner TRD Pro Wheels with 265/70/17 tires. A few questions for the experts....

    1. Should I buy a spare steel wheel also in the 17X7 size to match the new wheels since I assume the spare now matches the factory 17X7.5's? If so, do you think this spare is a good deal and fit? https://www.amazon.com/Toyota-4Runner-Replacement-Center-Offset/dp/B06ZYM1RPP

    2. Assume I should updgrade the spare tire size as well to the 265/70's over the stock 265/65's?

    3. Is there a TPMS sensor in the spare?

Thanks! Probably over thinking all this but would give me another project.....

No tpms in the spare and yes and full size spare is optimal.
Edit, pretty sure the 4 runner rim will work just fine.

Thanks! I've never even paid attention, is the factory spare not full size?

If you changed your tire size like I have on mine then no it won't be the same. Mine sr5 came with a 245/70/16 I believe. I am now at a 265 the stock or tire. My spare doesn't match.:(

Edit, different truck models came with different sizes 17 or 16, you would have to look at what they gave you. I think the limited even came with 18's

I'm in the same boat and wasn't sure what to do. Glad I ran across this thread. I don't think that's a bad price especially for having peace of mind that your spare matches ur upgraded wheel and tire size

It is important to have the spare tire the same size as the ones on the truck. Putting a different size tire on the drive wheels could cause damage as revs/mile will be different. A 1/2" difference in wheel width will make no difference in revs/mile but 65 to 70 series will.

Appreciate it. I think I'll definitely purchase a new spare tire in the right size and will get the new wheel to in 17X7 just because I'm a freak like that!

Look around locally as well. Couple Google searches and a few calls but I was able to find a slightly used 4runner spare for around $50 after talking him down a bit.

You could always grab an 2G SR5 / 3G SR steel wheel and throw a 265/75-16 on it. The overall height is nearly identical and it's easy to track down a set of those for cheap, be it an individual, pair, or set of 4.

We're in Missouri. That's the problem with wheels/tires, shipping is crazy. I bet you could sell it easily on your local Craigslist.

Just bought the below 17X7 Alloy 4Runner wheel off eBay for the spare. Exact size as the 4Runner TRD Pro wheels we have on and figure since it's alloy if we keep it clean/waxed once or twice a year it won't oxidize as bad as a steel spare would rust riding around under there. Now just need to get a tire the same size as the 265/70's we have on and call it good. All of this and I can't remember the last time I ever used a spare......Funny.
