4.10 has been my plan. 4.30 is sounding like a good option.

do they make 4.30 for the tacomas yet? if they do then ill go with them, i dont think the 4.10s will be what i want and i think the 4.56 may be just a tad to high.

OP, some great responses above to be sure. You may also want to try this calculator as it will tell you a lot about how many RPMs/speed you will be running using various tire sizes, gear ratios, etc.

I called East Coast Gear Supply (ECGS) today and the rep tells me that they don’t make 4.30 for the front diff on the Tacoma’s.

I’m probably going to stick with 32’s go with an E rated all terrain tire and re-gear 4.10

There are OEM gears from Toyota in 4.30. The third generation Tacomas from 2016+ have that ratio if they are configured both V6 and manual transmission. The front diff is interchangeable with the second generation; the rear diff itself is not but the whole axle (with the diff in it) do bolt right up to the second gen trucks so that's an option. But also for the rear you can use the 4.30 diff from the first generation tundras. Those diffs will fit into the second gen Tacoma axle housing as well unless you have a TRD off-road in which case this won't work for you unless you swap to the whole axle assembly from a third gen TRD off-road but good luck finding that yet

Anybody have an opinion using 4.10 on a 32” E rated tire?

What? I swore I read it on here and then confirmed it myself on their website. Maybe I'm losing my mind.

That's pretty much what you'll have to do. As I stated earlier in this thread, I wanted 4.30 earlier this year but didn't do it because they do not make a 4.30 for the front diff. Now, if the 3rd gen has that ratio that's pretty cool (and a great option). 4.30 would honestly be the ultimate sweet spot for 33-35" tires.

If they make that ratio for the 3rd gen the used gears should start showing up on the secondary market too, as people re-gear those trucks.

Actually there's a drop in option for second gen TRD off-road in 4.30 that doesn't require a whole axle swap. Certain years of 4Runner have that ratio and the elocker so there ya go

Subbed. Eventually getting 265/70/r17 KO2's for KO2's/Toyo RT's in 285/70/r17 so I may need to re-gear (definitely if I get the RT's as tire weight is 64lbs and they're true 33's). I need to go check what my factory gear ratio is first though
